    good brewing iPhone app?

I just downloaded Beer Talk for free for the iPhone, and like it, but I am biased because I helped make it. It is more for reading home brew blogs, watching video, and interacting with other home brewers. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/beer-talk/id414077493?mt=8

    Bad flavors, help!

not sure of your brewing process, but I have run into inconsistencies in the past. If you are properly sanitizing everything I am curious as to what water source are you using?

    Damn i make good beer!

I agree, I think I make the best beer and so do my friends. It tastes comparable or better than microbrew. I am biased since I made it. I figure it taste so good because we have a great water source.

    Blow Off Method

I use a blow of tube, I usually put the airlock on at 2-4 days. Probably not neccesary though. I did it this way because of instructions I started using. I haven't used a secondary yet. I use a glass carboy as my primary. My beers left in there for 2-3 weeks seem to turn out fine.

    Just bottled my first batch

nice, drink one at week 1, week 2, and week 3. What a difference a week will make.

Is there any harm letting a Bavarian Heffe alone in the primary for 3 weeks?

I made a hefe (Widmer clone) and left it in the primary for 3 weeks, then bottled, it turned out good.

    Low O.G.

Thanks, yes it was a partial boil and I did use specialty grains. Good point, I think I topped off the carboy with water, then took my gravity measurement. I don't think I mixed until the yeast was pitched. Thanks again.

First batch just bottled - not as bad as I thought

Congrats, be patient with the bottle conditioning. I'd crack one at 1 week, 2 weeks, and 3 weeks. It is cool cause you can tell the difference a week makes.

    Bottling Bummer

I've found that a bottle filler helped with my spills. I tried using the bottle spigot and made a mess.

    Low O.G.

So, I am a begginer (obviously) and have brewed 3 batches of beer. My first batch I tried to do a hefeweizen, 2nd an IPA, 3rd a blonde ale for the wife. All of my O.G.s were lower than what I thought they should be (compared to recipes on this forum). Am I doing something wrong, or is it due...
