brewhouse efficiency is how much sugar you get out of the grain mash and pre boil gravity is the same thing. og and fg is different then brewhouse efficiency:drunk:
Yesterday I attempted a partial mash for the first time, I ended up missing my OG by a mile (target 1.067, actual 1.053). My calculated efficiency was ~30%. My method was not traditional and I am sure was the cause but I dot get exactly why.

yea i use a paint stirrer on my drill works pretty good every other smack pack ive used always swelled it was like 5 months old called my lhbs he said to pitch it give it a couple days and see what happens just don't like waiting
i think i pitched some dead yeast yesterday pack did not swell its been a full 24 hours took a peek and nothing if i buy more yeast and pitch it should be fine or no? any feed back would be great thx
ok steel reserve is not the best but at 7 dollars a 12 pack where i live. dont get me wrong i love my homebrew and great craft beers. but there are those times when you are short on cash.

getting ready to brew a # 9 clone this weekend witch has apricots in it from what i have read from extreme brewing it is added to the boil mostly late addition the yeast are going to eat the sugars anyway you just want flavor or aroma out of it. the book reads tart fruits add more aroma and...
