Putting the tap on my new Tap-A-Draft

Be sure to get the bottle cold before opening it. You maintain more carbonation that way. I always give mine a few days under pressure before pouring the first glass. You can also cut back on the priming sugar as needed. With some of my brews I find I use less when using my tap a drafts.

    Restarting Washed Yeast

Thanks for the advice. I did not boil the DME, rather just threw it in with the yeast and a bit of spring water at room temp. Still nothing a full day later so I will wait one more day and if nothing happens I will just use a package of Nottingham and see what happens and wait to play with...

    Restarting Washed Yeast

I washed my yeast from my last batch of mild, following the directions listed here very closely. Today I tried using it on a new batch of the same beer. I let it sit on the counter and come to room temp - 70 degrees. I added it to a bit of spring bottled spring water with about a spoon of...

How many gallons of homebrew in 2009?

I have only been brewing for a bit over a year but I have learned that the answer to how many gallons brewed...simply not yet enough.

    Bottle or Keg?

A Tap-a-draft set up runs about 60-70 bucks from multiple suppliers. The beer is stored in large bottles in the fridge and charged with small CO2 cartridges. Certainly not a keg system, but I generally drink a glass of beer every other day or so and it fits my consumption needs just fine...

    Bottle or Keg?

I went to the Tap-a-Draft system as it lets my use a small tank for a somewhat kegged beer and still be able to bottle some that I can stash away for longer storage. It really works as a mid-way system.

Is it possible to keg in the mini kegs

You can use the Tap-a-draft set up with the mini kegs as well. You need an adapter cap but I know it works as I bought that set up for a friend last year and it is working simply super for him.

    Coopers Kit's...your secrets?

I made their Mexican Lager once and it turned many heads as being a good beer. It was served best with a bit of lime. I will do it again this summer based upon requests for it again from my friends. I used dry malt for the sugar and just followed the directions. Everything went super easy.

    Liquid vs Dry Yeast

I am sure that this topic has been discussed in many threads but I made an observation today after using dry yeast that I just want to confirm. I have made several extract brews with liquid yeast and only a few with dry. I started a brew yesterday with dry yeast and it just hit me that every...

Thanks to Edwort and his Mild

;)Thanks Edwort for your great mild recipe. I brewed up a extract batch about two months ago and after fighting with a used Tap-a-Draft that I now have working I have a steady supply of the sort of beer i enjoyed 30 years ago while living in the Cambridge are of the UK. This is why I got...

    Tap-a-Draft Help

:confused:I have a tap-a-draft that will not hold pressure and am asking for some help in troubleshooting the causes. I picked this up used and gave it a good cleaning. I pulled the spout out and the diffuser tube. All of the seals I replaced and took it as far apart as I can to give it a...

    5-Gallon Deer Park Water Bottle

Maybe I am lost here but why not just attach your bottle filler to a racking cane? I bottled a cider straight from the secondary that way with an auto-syphon and it worked great. No holes to drill or spigots to tighten.

What is be best way to cool your wort?

I recently started using gallon jugs of spring water for my brewing. As such I get it the day before and put two gallons in the fridge and let them get really cold. I brew with 2 gallons in the pot for the boiling and once done I put the pot in the sink with ice water around it. Once the...
