    Rose beer??

I believe we soaked 8 oz of rose petals in vodka for about a week, then transferred the vodka to the secondary. Honestly, all I think it did was provide a light red hue to the color of the beer, but we couldn't pinpoint a taste or aroma it provided. Maybe we have to add more rose petals.

    Best Wash DC area brewery?

I'm going on a business trip soon that will take me into Washington, DC, but will be spending the majority of my time in Winchester, VA. I always love to check out the local brews wherever I am. What are the best breweries/brew pubs that I need to check out?

    Rose beer??

Any news on this one? One of my brewing partners is also an OSU fan. We went with the Hefeweizen route as well. Did you add the vodka rose tea to the secondary or at bottling? How did it come out?

    Hops in the mash tun

I've started to mash hop with my IPA. It doesn't add much to the bitterness, but I feel it adds a nice hop smoothness to the flavor.

    Imperial Stout-Burbon and Wood

I would say 140 IBU is too high, especially if you're trying to stay true to the style. It all depends on what you want from it though. The RIS I brewed yesterday has a 58 IBU. The main reason I didn't want to go too crazy is I want the malt, vanilla, oak, and bourbon to be making the...

    Imperial Stout-Burbon and Wood

Interesting, I figured better bourbon would work better, I was planning on using Makers. Is there a reason the worst bourbons work better? And how do you go about toasting the wood?

    Imperial Stout-Burbon and Wood

I'm going to attempt an Imperial Stout this weekend, with the plan to add bourbon and wood chips later on, from what I have read, during the bottling stage. I plan on letting it age until Christmas time. Anybody have any helpful hints who has done this before? I appreciate the feedback. Thanks!

Low OG on Usually Consistent IPA

What I meant about hitting our efficiency was that we got similar liquid amounts out of the mash and sparge as we typically do. Don't think our chiller has a leak, we usually check before and after. I've never checked gravity while testing efficiency, I should probably start doing that. Maybe...

Low OG on Usually Consistent IPA

We brewed our IPA recipe last night and ended up with an OG of 1.0429, instead of the OG we usually get of 1.055. We hit our mash temp and time, we hit our expected efficiency, we did the full 60 min boil. Any ideas of what went wrong? Thanks!

What do you do with your spent grains?

Compost bin. Denver has a good program.

    Goose Island Summertime

Thanks! Nice avatar by the way, I have tickets to all four nights at Red Rocks. Did you stick the secondary in the fridge, or did you bottle it and then transfer to the fridge? Thanks again.

Has anyone had any success crafting a Goose Island Summertime clone? I'd love to get one going. Thanks!

    AG Brewer in Denver

Thanks for the welcome! I did the Mr. Beer thing for awhile and now I've just dived right into AG. I just started batch #8. So far the beer has been descent, our IPA has been the best so far. We've become more efficient in our operations so we can only hope our beer starts to improve as well...

    AG Brewer in Denver

Hello all, I just joined and wanted to say hello. I live in Denver and just started doing AG brewing a couple months ago. So far, the beer has been pretty good, but not great. I'm hoping to pick up some tips here to take me to the next level. Thanks!
