I didn't get the liver, I only hope the person who did needed it more than me! The fact that I am getting offers is great, I ll get my turn soon enough. Thanks for all the positive thoughts and prayers.
Hey Revvy,
They just called me from the transplant center, the Docs are enroute to harvest a liver, if they like it it's mine.
Could have this (new to me) liver in stalled in the morning. They will call back around midnight to let me know if I need to go to the hospital. It could be the...
To make things easier I do a satellite fermentation (beer bottle fermenter) on the side. I use this to keep an eye on the fermentation so to speak, and to take my hydrometer F.G. sample from.
Its just easier for me that way.
If your looking for a BMC type beer try this one: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f62/cream-three-crops-cream-ale-66503/
Simple cheap and you can use a dry yeast too.
Thanks for all the replies. Now I know it wasn't something I was doing.
Being how this yeast costs $ 4.95 at my LHBS (there is a a paradise tax here in San Diego) I think I'll do a little yeast washing. This was a active batch so maybe I'll save a few bucks.
Good to hear from you my friend, not complaining at all, just gathering info.
I'm rather happy that this strain works as hard as it does.:D
... and, it's only $4.95 for 11 grams.
I just noted blow thru number three for the day, while cleaning up I checked the wort temp. it was at 68F. I keep a fan blowing on the fermenter to try and control the temp. maybe I should wrap a wet towel around it as well and use it like a swamp cooler.
Thanks for all your observations...
Do the hulls manage to stay at the bottom of the mash tun?
I made BM's Cream of Three Crops this week and was really sweating a stuck sparge but things worked out fine, I barely cracked the outlet valve on the tun. I'm guessing the rice hulls is something I should keep on hand.
My last two batches I have used this strain because the recipe called for it. These are both 5 gallon batches in a 6.5 gal. bucket W/sealed lids. About the third or fourth day this stuff blows through the airlock nothing violent or terribly messy. I've never seen this with the Danstar Notty or...
Personally I haven't experienced the snobbery at Home brew Mart, but the prices are higher. I knew about American home brewing supply but have never been there, North Park area would be closer for me as I live in east Chula Vista. Next time I find myself up in the Murphy canyon area I'll check...
I have a ten gallon round cooler I got from Home Depot. I use the SS braid and have never had a stuck sparge (knock on wood). I can't speak to the pro's or cons of the bass manifolds. I don't see the SS braid be a inferior method.
