Can you Mash over the stove?

I partial mash in a pot on the stove, I also sparge in pot on the stove as well. But I only go to 5-5.5 lbs of combined grains.

Amylase has become my best friend in dieting.

I have also done a lot of other things as well and lost 12 lbs in a month. But my point with the beer is I have went from five to six on an average Friday and Saturday night 175-236 calorie beers (Using SNPA and Torpedo because they seem to be my go to) to 3-4 110 calorie beers on Friday and...

Amylase has become my best friend in dieting.

Every online calculator I use when I take a beer with an OG in in the 1.032-1.036 range and take the FG of 1.004-1.007 (where it would finish without) down to 1.000-1.002 where it seems to finish with it it knocks off about 3-5 calories per 12 ounces. While not a significant amount it did drop...

Amylase has become my best friend in dieting.

If you put in Amylase after primary fermentation it breaks down the left over starches making them fermentable. So it cuts down on carbs but it also cuts calories which is all I truly care about.

Amylase has become my best friend in dieting.

Too many big beers have been playing havoc with my waistline so I decided to try to drop a few pounds and as most of you know a couple bombers of 6-8% beers has as many calories as a lot of meals. So one of my first cuts was beer and I found the Miller Lite Clone recipe on this site and gave it...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I just bottled my Guiness Clone and brewed what I hope is a decent Pale Ale a little on the lite side.

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

I brewed mine with the corn from start to finish. I brewed mine as an ale but as always I try to keep mine as cool as possible.

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

Just cracked open my second one and the first that was ready and it is pretty good. Really clear and crisp. I will definitely make this a couple times a year.

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

I actually thought Old Fezziwig was one of the better from the Winter Sampler. I wasn't a big fan of the White Christmas one though. I guess that is why there is so many kinds of beer.

Have you ever been embarassed making an alcohol purchase?

I just have to say that is one of the funniest things I have heard. I can just imagine the cashier telling everyone she knew about the man who put back formula so he could have money for beer. I just hope he looked back and forth dramatically before deciding.

Will America's beer reputation ever improve?

I know everybody has their own opinion but the American made craft beers are superior in almost every way to imported beers. I think imports were thought of as superior when during the 80s and 90s you either bought BMC or imports. Where I usually buy my beer from the basically have 3 aisles...

Have you ever been embarassed making an alcohol purchase?

I drank Everclear a couple times when I was young (under 21). I figured out it was not for me after breaking my rearview AND sideview mirror and putting a huge dent in the hood of my car. Then passing out on the hood and spending the better part of the night asleep on the hood. Why did I do...

To 2ndary ferment or not 1 gal batches

Like Pieman said I don't see the point in it unless you are bulk aging on something like Oak or a really big beer. Why go to the trouble, lose beer, and risk infection with little to no benifit of transferring.
