    Iron Brewer - Reese's Puffs

Sorry if I'm posting too many but I can't stop thinking about your challenge and what I might do if in your shoes. The stout or porter seem to be an obvious choice so you may want to think about doing two beers and presenting your favorite. Perhaps do the obvious and ramp up the flavor any way...

    Iron Brewer - Reese's Puffs

I was just thinking about it and you might even think about pulling a gallon of whatever beer you make after primary is complete and dry hop (or dry puff) it to see what charter it adds.

    Iron Brewer - Reese's Puffs

I agree that the natural choice would be a porter. Specifically one that is heavy on the chocolate flavors. The only stout I could imagine working is a chocolate milk stout and you'd have to be careful not to go too heavy on the coffee notes. Do keep is posted on the deadline and your progress...

Largest grain bill possible in a 10 gal cooler MLT?

Thanks for all the great replies! I am checking out the mash calculators now but am pretty sure I'll be using the 10 gal cooler as my MLT. I was concerned about loosing beer quality in switching up to 10 gal batches instead of the 5 I'm currently doing. Carliezdad

    Wai`anae Summer Ale

C-Rider, I'm not sure I'm reading your recipe right. It seems you are planning on using a total of 2.5 pounds base malt and some specialty grains. I should also say that I'm not a big fan of smoked beers just yet. All the ones I've tried have been overly smokey and the beer flavor was lost. That...

Largest grain bill possible in a 10 gal cooler MLT?

Thanks! I'm really excited about moving up to 10 gal batches but don't want to dilute my wort to reach volume or extract tannins to get there either. Thanks again!

Largest grain bill possible in a 10 gal cooler MLT?

I've been using a 10 gal pot with a rectangular cooler as a MLT to make 5 gal batches (batch sparge only). I have just come across an old 10 gal rubbermaid cooler and sanke keg. I am planning on making a keggle and using the 10 gal cooler as my mash tun with my current cooler as a HLT and start...

    Homebrewtalk Carboy Cleaner Giveaway

I need the carboy cleaner because I'm stationed in the interior of Alaska and the time save from having to try to wash my equipment in sub zero weather would make the brew day much more enjoyable. (please see forecast below) 1 - 5 of 15 days | All 15 Days Next 5 days > Next 5 Days Today...

    Frozen concentrate?

Thanks! I haven't tried this juice yet. I'm going to make a can and see if it'll add what I'm after first. If I like the taste I'm hoping that the two can method will give the subtle fruit addition I'm after. Did you just add the concentrate thawed or did you make the juice and add it? Cheers!

    Frozen concentrate?

I just returned home from a business trip to Hawaii where I tried Kona brewing co's Wailua wheat and loved it. Here in the interior of AK where I live I can't find passion fruit to reproduce their beer. I did find a frozen concentrate called "Hawaii's Own passion orange". Has anyone used these...

    wailua Wheat...Passion Fruit

I too would love to find a clone for this tasty brew! I has one in the Honolulu air port the other day and was completely thrown by how crisp and refreshing it was!!! It's one I think the wife will like too.

    First AG brew!!!

I batch sparged and I believe I used too much water. Over shot it by about a gallon! Or I set my efficiency too high in beersmith. I guess I could have left some in the mash tun and probably would have hit the mark. Good luck with yours!

    First AG brew!!!

Today was my first AG brew!!!! Home made MLT 10 gal boil pot 5 gal pot for strike water and an espresso porter in the carboy! I was only one degree off for my mash temp which is awesome. I was low for my starting gravity by 8 but my boil amount was higher than expected which is what I think...
