    30 Quart Brewpot Questions

That looks pretty cool! Maybe it's the optimist in me, but I think I can get this to work, especially using Flyguy's method. I'm able to bring a 2.5 gallon wort to a rapid boil on my stove in a stainless steel pot, so I'm thinking maybe it'll be able to do 5 gallons with the insulation...

    30 Quart Brewpot Questions

So far I've done two extract batches. For each, I boiled about 2.25 gallons worth of water in a 12 quart pot. I'd like to get a larger pot to make my life easier. I live in a small apartment and I'm restricted to using an electric stove. I would eventually like to start doing full boils...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I'm going to brew my first batch of apfelwein this weekend. In anticipation, I bought some Vermont Cider Jack. Does apfelwein taste at all like it?

Hefe for a second brew.. any recipe suggestions?

I'm planning on doing the same thing. Question, does the blueberry extract work well with a German Hefe too, or is it primarily best with American Wheats? Thanks, CT

    Gravity reading

Speaking of hydrometers, I'm about to buy one but am a bit confused. I was thinking of getting this triple scale hydrometer: http://www.austinhomebrew.com/product_info.php?cPath=178_67_64&products_id=801 Do I need to buy the test cylinder too?

    Second batch questions

You mean like a rubber stopper? I actually had a second reason for asking this question. I have an extra bucket where the spigot hole was drilled too close to the bottom, rendering it unusable for bottling. However, I don't want the bucket to go to waste. Would it be cool if I just plugged...

    Second batch questions

Hi David, The picture I was thinking of was on this page, http://www.howtobrew.com/section1/chapter1-1.html . So it should be fine even if it doesn't look that aggressive? I guess I should've taken a picture of what mine looked like. Thanks again, CT

    Second batch questions

My first batch of beer, a Honey Wheat just finished its three weeks of conditioning. I had one last night and it was amazing! Thanks for all the help everyone! With that one done, I'm trying to figure out what would be a good second batch to make. It's pretty warm here (upper 70s). Should...

    Simple Ginger Beer Recipe

Anyone have a simple recipe for ginger beer? I came across this one (http://recipegal.com/beverages/Ginger-Beer-Plant.htm), but just curious what other recipes are out there. I recall coming across one (which I forgot to bookmark) that was more along the lines of boiling some ginger and sugar...

    Cleaning equipment for storage

I just finished bottling my first batch last night, thanks everyone for all the help! I tried some and it tasted pretty good, can't wait for it to finish priming. So now I'm wondering what sort of clean up I should do now that I'm done? As for the buckets, OxiClean? Bleach? Just rinse it...
