What band do you listen to on brewing day?

    Greensky Bluegrass every brew day!

    Maple beer

I have made one of my best ever oatmeal stouts using silver maple sap! I utilized the sap, just as I would water. I don't know what it was, but that beer came out damn good! That taps are a running again up here in montana, and another is in the works. I have the recipe somewhere in hopeville...

    Same batch different beer

When I bottle, I typically use 3/4 cup of Corn Dextrose and boil in about a pint of water. I then pour the liquid into my bottling bucket and give it a little stir with a sanitized metal spoon. My carbonation and head retention is pretty much spot on consistently. What method(s) are you using?

what to do with extra crushed grains???

I typically buy in bulk so I always have leftover grains, but if your trying to utilize them somehow without saving them or using them in a batch find a neighbor with chickens and give em to them

Thanks John! By no means was I trying to blemish the company, I just wanted some sort of explanation for how this could have happened. Cheers!

    Blichmann regulator hose on fire

Thanks for the info, but I'm still trying to figure out WHY this happened. There was no wind and all the connections, to my knowledge, were properly connected. I did step in the house to ready a hop addition and thats when I heard that crazy jet blasting sound.

    Blichmann regulator hose on fire

My flame seemed to look just fine, I usually only supply about half throttle to the burner. I have still yet to hear back from Blichmann after a week or so...I was brewing in pretty cold conditions, but nothing I haven't brewed in before, at least with my banjo burner. I'm at a loss..

    Blichmann regulator hose on fire

On only my 4th or 5th time using a new Blichmann burner, the stainless lined hose suddenly burst into flames (the rubber hose had melted and was spewing out propane which caught on fire)! Has anyone had any issues such as this? I've tried contacting Blichmann about this, with no response. Any ideas?

    Blichmann vs Banjo burner

I have both a Blichmann and a Banjo- they perform the same. The banjo has actually performed better for me. On my third brew day with the Blichmann the regulator hose just erupted into flames and was leaking propane out of the hose....I have yet to hear back from blichmann about this and...

Which Kettle to Buy with Christmas Gift Certificates?

I think that it boils down to personal preference. A brew kettle from company "A" won't make you a better brewer than if you used a brew kettle from company "B". Personally, I'm a no thrills kinda guy and would go for the megapot. The dip tube in the Blichman is nice indeed, but if your...

    When to add fruit.

I've experimented with elderberries that I picked (fresh) and ended up putting them in with about 10 mins left in the boil. I didn't notice a huge flavor profile from them, but I only added 2 cups of fresh crushed berries. I'm interested in throwing some in my mash and boil and see what happens...

    Chocolate beer??

I typically use organic roasted coca nibs in the last 10 mins of the boil and have had great results. I normally use 1-3 oz depending on what i'm aiming for.

    Using the grains after steeping

I give all my spent grains to a buddy with chickens...my dogs like to eat some too

    cloudy beer - why?

Did you do a secondary? Is there a high load of sedimentation at the bottom of your bottles?
