    Fruit flies

Taste it again this evening. It was horrible. Dumped ! :( I now have airlocks on my primary for my next brewday. Lesson learned.

    Fruit flies

I'd like to add that I'm a sanitize FREAK, and I still had the problem. I have a fly trap too but it's their decision to go to the ferm bucket or the trap, unfortunately.

    Fruit flies

In my case, it happens very often to see those buggers in the house when we buy some fruits at the grocery store This is what I'm afraid of. Did you have many of them in your ferm chamber ? I only saw 2 or 3 flies in the refrigerator.

    Fruit flies

Ok thanks to everybody. I'll keg it and carb it this weekend, hope it will be ok. From the sample I took yesterday, it taste just fine but after reading a little bit on the subject, it looks like I'm a lucky guy if everything stays fine.

    Fruit flies

I don't worry too much about the final product normally, but 4 weeks ago I've brewed a modified version of EdWort's Pale. Tonight I open my ferm chamber (refrigerator) and I saw 2 fruit flies. Noooooo ! I ferment with loose lid. Remove the lid and see a dead fruit fly sticking on the...

    Washing WLP029

This is the result of my attempt to "wash" this yeast. These are 1qt and 2qt jars, I now have 5 of these. Plenty of yeast for next batches. Not perfect but not that bad.

    Washing WLP029

Ok, so this is what I did. Put a little more boiled/cooled water than the amount I use normally. From this, I started to see layers after 20-25 minutes. Trub was on top. With a sanitized turkey baster, remove most of the top brownish layer. I did it 2-3 times for each jar. It takes more...

    Washing WLP029

Anybody has luck washing WLP029 ? I'm trying to wash this yeast but nothing seems to work. No layers, all the trub/yeast stick together. It separates from beer in a few minutes but can't isolate the yeast. Thanks.

    Washed yeast color

This is strange, the brownish layer was at the bottom. So I made a starter 2 days ago on a stir plate, and 10 minutes after I removed the jar from the stirplate (about 30 hours on the stirplate), that darker layer has settled down. I put it in the fridge last night and the yeast is still in...

    Washed yeast color

Hi, Just want to know if people here has seen a difference in color between fresh yeast and washed yeast. I've washed some 3864 and its color is way lighter than the one from a sample of the original starter I kept from the first batch. The "original" yeast sample has a very thin white...

Very Uneven Carbonation! 1 Bottle Bomb!

I normally keg beer, last batch I tried bottling. I did not stir the beer after racking onto priming solution...no strirring but a good "whirlpool" effect. I tasted the bottom of the bottling bucket and it was sooooo sweet. I now fear bottle bombs. I've opened only two bottles right now (1...

Need help on my first AG -BIAB Wit

Something I learned AFTER i brew my last wit. :( From Hoegaarden website: ------------- Coriander The location of Hoegaarden village and its consequent link with the spice trade of Holland in the 15th century made coriander seeds easily available to the monks. When crushed, the seeds...

    Carbonation problem

No bubbles when poured with less pressure and yes the taste was flat. Everytime I use the pitcher and then pour into glasses, only the first glass still has a good mouthfeel and bubbles, all the other taste flat. I know it's weird but I can't explain why it happen. If I pour directly into...

    Carbonation problem

Thanks for the answer. But the thing is I don't understand why there's no bubbles instantly if I lower the serving pressure. The beer should be carbed just like the previous pint at a higher pressure, no ? If I serve the beer in a pitcher, there's a lot of bubble on the side of the...
