    Malt Liquor Recipe (Extract)

Maybe you can use chicken feed for the corn in the mash?

    This looks like bad news

That's wild. Lesson leared/learning. Well, today the sucker looks like it's going to be a pellicle. Is there any treatment for this or am I bottling for ****s and hoping for the worst? How do I bottle it anyway, it's in a glass carboy. Sad day.

    This looks like bad news

Boiling water and 99% anti-bacterial hand soap. What's the BB code to embed a video? Pictures are worthless because there's condensation on the top of my carboy. I can't photograph through it. I'm pretty sure this is some sort of infection because it's growing. Is it possible to get rid of...

    It doubled overnight

    This looks like bad news

I just can't imagine what on earth it could be? It appeared overnight. I would be oh-so-sad if it were an infection.

    This looks like bad news

It has little squigglies that make it look like bacteria. I think the abv between 6-7% (my OG reading was inaccurate because my wort wasn't stirred) and this happened 14 days from the beginning. I was kind of a freak about washing stuff with antibacterial soap. Even my hands. Boiled the entire...

    This looks like bad news

a tiny matte looking swirl just formed on the top of my beer in secondary overnight. I'm pretty positive that it's an infection although it's very tiny just yet. It doesn't appear to be anything from the hop bag. It looks like something might be trying to grow. It's in a glass carboy so I can't...

    Exploding Carboy

Next time smear some petroleum jelly all over the rubber stopper so that there's no friction disk, just even resistance. Throw paper airplanes at it before you approach it, as well.

    Can I still pick hops?

It's Nov 2nd! I might have a place to pick some hops for free, but it's a ways away for me (and gas is pricey and I hate hate hate driving anywhere). Do you think it's worth driving to look at the hops or do you think they're toast by now? I don't think we've had a freeze yet here in Seattle. I...

    classification. . .

Not at all The IBU is 64-ish. I might go higher because of all of the caramel. I read of someone infusing some hop tea because they undershot their IBU's. Supposedly you can't taste over 60 IBUs but I sure seem to find a noticeable difference between 60 and, say, 90.

    classification. . .

So, I was going to make a pretty hoppy ale á la IPA-ish, but I realized that my 2lb Caramunich addition BLASTED my beer's colour from 9° to 20°, a dark brown. Can this still be an IPA, technically, if the colour is so severely dark? If not, what style would it fall into for all of that dark...

Making Up A Recipe - Think it will suck or no?

Sir I believe you have a hop problem. I would like to help assimilate your plague. Go ahead and send me as many pounds of hops as you need to get to a manageable point. I would hate for you to be unable to enjoy your backyard due to overvineage. I will dispose of them at no charge. And you're...

    Just bought:

2oz NUGGET y 2oz GLACIER Anyone combined em? I'm doing a Rye IPA, light on the rye—a little bit caramel-ey—with a projected 1.085 OG. I want to hear all of your ideas on how to schedule them! I'm new to both of them so lend some input!! I actually chose them from the package...
