    Hello from England

We also have a local pub, my local, wonderful atmosphere I have fears that that won't be around much longer, keep trying to patronise it to help keep it going ;-) It's bad times at the moment.

Spraymalt or sugar and what do people think of Coopers Stout

Another recommendation for Coopers Stout was a beer enhancer which was half dme and half dried dextrose. What does this do for me that the spraymalt doesn't and which is the best course of action. I think that sometimes a little bit of information offers up more questions than answers...

Spraymalt or sugar and what do people think of Coopers Stout

Hi guys just before I start my second brew I am wondering what I should use for making my next kit, maybe a Coopers stout this time. My local stockist suggested Spraymalt when I brewed the Nut Brown Ale and I have to admit the results were pretty good, however, is it better to use this than...

Advice required for a paranoid first home brew kit

Well guys, I left it for a second week and there was no change in the hydrometer reading at 1.020 so I have bit the bullet and bottled it. A further week down the line and the bottles have pressurised nicely. I will wait until the new year to give this one a taste but one things for sure...

    This forum is addictive!

My first beer is it's second week of primary and I am also starting to get addicted to the idea of making beer and reading this forum. I am starting to look out the next kit (or 5) buying more kit and how I can start brewing from recipes. I haven't even bottled the first one, let alone tasted...

Advice required for a paranoid first home brew kit

Thanks for all your reassurances, reading through the forum I think I am going to give it another week or so to do it's thing. Would it be worth agitating the fermentor before I leave it or just shut the door and leave it.

Bottling in 2litre coke bottles - release pressure?

Just trying to get my head around this. how does this work with glass bottles, obviously it is nigh on impossible to remove the air in this instance, does the excess Co2 get absorbed into the beer and does the air in the bottle have a detrimental effect on the beer ?

    Hello from England

Hi, May & Brett's is a hopped malt extract kit. They produce kits from the old and now defunct Dunmow Brewery in Essex, England. I tried some the other day, it was really nice and started me on the road to home brewing. I am planning to try their stout as well at some point in the future :mug:

    Hello from England

Hi guys I am 7 days into the primary fermentation of my first kit, a May & Brett's Blue Boar Brown Ale. I tried some that my cousin had brewed and was won over and bought all the stuff the next day. I am doing the thing that all noobs do apparently and worrying too much about spoiling it...

Advice required for a paranoid first home brew kit

I hope I am in the right place, most appears to be about "proper brewing" additionally I am a utter noob in home brewing and my stupid questions may be wasting everyone's time. I am brewing a Nut Brown Ale from kit, using spraymalt, it has been in the airing cupboard for 7 days at a constant...
