Personally I'd like to see as many brewer's take advantage of these group buys so I hope you rethink this. I'm certainly not local since it takes me about 90 minutes to get there and I'd hate to see a "Local's Only" stigma placed on these.

I ran into the same issue so I grated 5# of Sweet Potatoes, baked them at 350 for 90 minutes and added them to the mash.
It has been conditioning in the keg for 10 days now and I would say the yam has really added to the mouth feel and color.
I've washed it up to 4 times without incident. I have noticed that after that fourth time I start to get some off-flavors (band-aid) but that may just be my washing process.
