    PicoBrew Zymatic

Nobody? Well, it worked fairly well. The first beer is a solid west coast IPA. The second running was thin, as you might expect from the ABV, but is quite drinkable with the dry hopping. The blend honestly was a bit lacking in hop character, but this was the first pour, so we’ll see this weekend.

    PicoBrew Zymatic

So, anyone else try a parti-gyle with the zymatic? I just did a batch a week or so ago. I did an IPA with 8.5 lbs of grain using the standard mash profile, which returned a 1.062 batch for about 55% efficiency. I then ran the same grain and hops though the high efficiency mash profile, which got...

    Kreuzberg beer

So I just started pouring this. It honestly has been long enough since I had to original that I can’t say how close it is, but it sure is tasty. Prost!

    Kreuzberg beer

I finally got around to brewing this recipe this week. It only look a year. I’ll report back once it is kegged.

    PicoBrew Zymatic

Ha! I kid you not, 5 minutes after posting this I got my first FE33, but it seemed to restart fine. I guess I forgot to knock on wood.

    PicoBrew Zymatic

So, I finally started actually brewing with the Zymatic for a couple of brews, and I have actually had decent luck. Well, decent luck thanks to this thread, and Mike Howard in particular. The key for me has been the “heat water” recipe. If I get the water temp above the 102 mark, the rest of the...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

I think I have pushed at least 5 off a single paintball tank. I have two in case one runs out. I do not keep mine in the cooler, but instead ran a gas line through the spigot hole on the upper cooler I use with a draft tower. That way I can run a 2.5 or 5lb as well. I can’t see any issues with...

    Kreuzberg beer

Thanks! While it will end up being outside of normal Dunkel season, I’m going to look to get this in the pipeline. A couple of other questions if I may. What is your target OG? Mash temp/schedule? Preferred yeast? Thanks again!

How’d it turn out? Could you share your recipe?

    Grainfather!!

I plan to, but have not found them in stock yet. I have had a few problems with the filter, so I’d be happy to have the additional option in place.

    PicoBrew Zymatic

Mike - thanks for all of the great info on this thread! Could you post some guidance on refilling the glycol and where you source it? Does the glycol appear to leak from somewhere, or does it burn off or something?

    Grainfather!!

Figured it out. I was going to swap out the temp controller and when I took the old one out the face plate was detached. Not sure how well it shows in this picture, but the wrinkle in the sticker when I clicked it back suggests it might have been that way from the factory. The temp would not...

    Grainfather!!

No, it heats up if on boil, but the temp controller won't let me change the set temp. I have a spare STC-1000 I think, so I am going to try wiring that in unless I hear from Grainfather of another route. I plan to upgrade to the new controller, so replacing it seems a waste and I have grains...

    Grainfather!!

So I set up my grainfather last night for first cleaning and the set button on the temperature controller doesn't seem to work. I can hold it down as long as I like and nothing happens. I tried holding the up and down arrows to see if I could get any reaction and no luck there either. Temp shows...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

Maiden voyage with 8 Point IPA from Devil's Backbone in VA (hopefully I don't get banned for a non-home brew). Works like a charm. I used pieces from a flexible cutting board and white duct tape to seal off the foam.
