    Angry Orchard

Was your recipe closer to the Ginger or the Crisp? I'd like to try and make a clone, but I don't want to end up with apple flavored Vernors:D

Help for a Newbie Special Tomato Wine

Thanks Honda, I tried these delicious little things which are perfect for Northern MI (very quick mature, very hardy fruit) and knew I had to try :o I think fool hardy is probably the case. I'm thinking bottle condition with honey?

Help for a Newbie Special Tomato Wine

Yup, I was thinking about 2lbs of granulated white sugar or light brown sugar, (1gal batch size) but I was worried about how the pH would effect it. I mean wine grapes have a pH in the 3.4 range give the pH scale that means they're 100x more acidic than these tomatoes. Do I still need to add...

Help for a Newbie Special Tomato Wine

10-11 Brix scale sugar content. ~4.5pH So yeah, a lot of sugar and relatively low acid content...

Help for a Newbie Special Tomato Wine

Hello, I am relatively new to brewing but I have made some simple wines and beers with a little success, now I'm going to attempt something a little harder.:o I was hoping for some advice. I am going to try a tomato wine, but with a new hybrid of tomato. It's called "sun sugar" and these...

    year old mead-dare I carbonate?

that sounds fantastic MeadWitch, the bite of the peppers and the ginger will bring out the sweetness and flavors. Ever try mint or green tea? volvodude, how much mead are you talking about? Bottles? Gallons? Kegs? I would say carbonate regardless because I love the bubbly, but if you have a...

    year old mead-dare I carbonate?

Heck Yeah MeadWitch:rockin: I've been experimenting with peach juice concentrate to really get the peach flavor into it. The only down side is I've got to wait to see how my experiments worked I've had really good luck with Blackberry Peach Melomel, still just a bare hint of peach though...

Using a Mini Fridge to ferment Mead etc

Check out some of the "Cooler" style fridges they run on 120v AC or 12vDC They only cool 30-35 degrees cooler than ambient. I have one I won from a pepsi promotion. It can hold a 1 gallon carboy with extra space. Also I think wine coolers like at wal-mart work on a similar principle and...

Want a mead for my wedding...

Great idea Scubbastv. I am doing the same thing with my wedding for next year. :D My cousin was married this year and as a present gave a bottle of home-brewed bottled and labeled wine to every couple. The easiest recipes are going to be the simple meads; however, they are not very festive...

    Finding Things

I've tried that, I don't know if it is the bottles or the seals or what? I've actually taken the flip loops off and run them through a dish washer. Heck, I've tried steam and deionized water (stopped short of trying acetone). Maybe it is in my head, but I swear I get flavor cross over.

    Finding Things

That is pretty much what I'm doing now. It can just be hard to get them all the way clean. Plus around here the only beers I can find with swing tops are Grolsh:(

    Super Sweet Sparkling Mead

You're talking about adding additional honey when you bottle right? On a scale from flat pop to alka-seltzer where does that rate on a effervesence scale?

    Super Sweet Sparkling Mead

Thanks, I'm trying to use flip top bottles. I have another thread on here trying to find virgin ones for cheap online, right now I'm getting them full of sparkling juices or wines and washing them.

    Super Sweet Sparkling Mead

:ban: Thank you! I'm sure the procedure for how to do that is on here somewhere do you have a link? Is force carbonating similar to the systems for making pop/soda?
