    Autumn Seasonal Beer Punkin' Ale

Well, it was a 12 hour brew day...with all of the set backs that I had, I am extremely glad to say I hit my gravity and volume dead on. It's also always a good day when the house smells of baking pumpkin and the deck smells of smoking meats. I'm not quite ready for the cold weather yet, but...

    Odell IPA Clone?

This is great to see! I've been out of the brewing game for a few months, but just ordered 150 lbs of grain and will finally have the time to brew again. I've got everything I'll need to brew this bad boy up. It's 3rd in the pipeline, so I'll probably get to it in a couple weeks. Has anyone...

    Green Gorilla IPA

Yep, that is exactly what I used as a guideline, and then made some modifications like sketching out the gorilla and using live paint on it. I used to create different labels for each beer that I brewed, but I'm getting in the habit of using this template since it's so easy and I like the look...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Jalapeno Cream Ale

I'm definitely going to brew this one up, and jumped ahead of a few in my pipeline. I just need to free up some fermenters. I'll do the original recipe first, but the second time around I'm thinking about using a good deal of rauch malt for a hot smoky beer.

    Oxidation

Even if the recipe was formulated for a 5 gallon batch, don't feel the need to automatically top it off. Get into the habit of checking the gravity with a hydrometer, and then add water or malt extract if needed. I know this was kind of an after the fact kind of addition, but even when I go...

Where Do Pros Get Their Labels Made?

Regular printer paper labels applied with milk works wonders. No hassle of trying to soak labels off, because if you run it under hot water while you wash out the bottle the label falls right off.

    Green Gorilla IPA

Thanks guys I had a lot of fun making this label. If I make a t-shirt you'll be the first to know chunklefunk. I did try putting the gorilla in front of the oval, but based on how I sketched him I didn't think it look quite right. Here it is with him in front. I obviously can't change the...

Label for my West Coast Style Pale Ale

I can dig it for sure. It might be a little bright on a computer, but once you get it on a label it will probably be a little easier on the eyes. Reminds me a lot of Bear Republic's brewery logo.

    Green Gorilla IPA

Here's a new label that I slapped on bottles today. It's a recipe based off of eschatz's Two Hearted Clone with a few changes here and there. I made a few renditions of the label by just changing the background color, and decided I liked all of them, so I used all of them. I forgot to put the...

American Wheat Beer Summer Citrus Wheat

I had mine back to back with a Blue Moon and a Boulevard Wheat, and it looked almost identical to both of them. Taste was definitely different, but I liked the citrus forward flavor.

American Wheat Beer Summer Citrus Wheat

This beer turned out to be a real pleaser. It's only spent 2 weeks in bottles, but they're starting to go faster than I'd like. The girl seems to love them. I was able to brew it with some locally grown white wheat from a guy who donated 20 lbs of it in return for a 6 pack. It was still...

    Time for a summer brew

It finally hit 65 here today, so I pulled out the brew pot and had a porch brew day. I made TwoHeadsBrewing's Summer Citrus Wheat. All in all it was a fairly easy brew day, until I realized I forgot to add the orange peel to my kettle. I ended up boiling a couple cups of water with the peel...

American Wheat Beer Summer Citrus Wheat

Brew day went off without a hitch...until I was chilling and I realized I forgot to add the orange peel (doh). I ended up throwing them in a couple cups of water boiled them for a few minutes and then poured it into the cooling pot. Also got to use the remaining snow to help chill!

American Wheat Beer Summer Citrus Wheat

Brewing this tasty treat today, and just mashed in. I'll be taking naughty beer pron pictures as well.

    Crystal as Base malt?

No seriously...look at the link I posted. Nilo proved that there is some fermentability, but not as much as would be if you added a bit of base malt with a higher diastatic power. It's definitely worth reading...plus there are plenty of pretty graphs and pictures to get distracted by.
