    Enjoying 1st AG beer

Just popped open my first all grain brew. A simcoe/ Amerillo IPA. A nice clean floral hop aroma and very clear beer. Only 2 weeks since bottling and already a 1.5" head when pouring and consistent .25" head throughout drinking the beer. I am so proud of myself :rockin: . No going back...

First AG in the fermenter. holy cow...

Laughing right now thinking about my own 1'st all grain which was only 2 brews ago... had some problems of my own ( ss tubing coming off while stirring in the grains). My brew buddy and I tore up his garage building the mash tun and getting everything together.

    Another 1st time AG'er

Batch Sparged. My friend and I bought the ingredients around 4:30. Had to build the Mash-tun (igloo with ss dishwasher hose) So we were short on time. Plus when stirring in the grains and water we were perfect at 150 F but has he was stirring the darn ss hose at the bottom came off. So...

The OG reading was with 6.5 gallons that we collected. So is this the correct then 39 * 6.5/4.25 = 59 so the corrected OG then would around 1.059?

    Another 1st time AG'er

I had to break up my mash and brew nights due to time constraints. Mashed last night and will brew tonight. I can tell already that I'm going to love brewing with all grains. I've brewed 7 exctract recipes already and now that I have done one mash, I'm starting to understand concepts and...

    Simcoe Recipes

So I'm looking to brew an IPA tonight using only simcoe hops. I extract brew with specialty grains. Can anyone help me out with a good recipe. Or even some hints on what grians I should use and how much? Yeast? Side note: I brewed the 06.06.06 beer about 2 months ago now and man...

First time using a glass primary

Thats what we (my brew partner and I) use thinking the same thing. All was fine until about the 3rd day, foam up into the airlock. Got kinda sketchy but we were able to get the blow-off tube in just fine. The beer is now in secondary and tasting very good.

    Dry Hop Duration

So we racked our Mirror Pond Pale Ale clone into secondary on sunday with 1oz of cascade hops. I've heard that the longer in secondary the hops will mellow out on the nose. In other words, after a week you would have a hoppier nose then leaving it in for 2 weeks. Is this the case? What...

    First time Brewer Here

OK, good idea. They include the ingredients for a 5 ga. batch with the purchase of the kit. So I was just trying to figure out what I wanted to make and if some where "easier" then others. I'll definently see what they have to say or suggest.

    First time Brewer Here

Well, close anyways. This weekend I'll be getting my kit and I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for a good first time brew. I should say this is my first attempt with a REAL kit (i.e. not Mr Beer). I really enjoy lagers, but will probably stick with Ales for now. Something with some...

    Hey From Eugene, Or

I figure with this forum and my homebrewing for dummies book I should be able to make a drinkable beer. My first attempt witha cheap kit was unbearable. Now I have the time and am more serious... although not too serious.
