Just rinsing with one step won't do much, if that's all you're using you definitely want more contact time. I fill a bucket enough to cover the bottles and soak a bunch at a time, drain them and let them drip in the dishwasher (stand them neck down on the racks) for a little bit before bottling...
Brewing the BrewDemon American Prophecy Ale later this evening. Going to sub Safale 05 and add some Simcoe hops to get a citrus hit. Need to try a mini mash or small partial mash stovetop brew.
Been away from brewing for too long, so many projects. Looking forward to setting up my 5 gallon brew...
Not too bad. The malts are made by the same company that made Mr. Beer malts before the Cooper's buyout. Conical fermenter is pretty cool. I've used two of them to ferment a split 5 gallon batch to try two different yeasts.
I know this is an old post, but I just thought of using a domed splatter screen too. Another idea I had was to somehow convert a metal grill pan like this http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=12268084 for use with a 5 gallon turkey fryer. The diamerter of the pan bottom is perfect...
Yes, oxidation. If you leave fermented beer in the keg too long after fermentation has completely stopped oxidation can create off flavors. It's not necessary to leave the beer for longer than two weeks in the keg fermenter before bottling. That would be a different story in a sealed carboy with...
C-Brite is chlorine based. I would advise against drinking it, dilute or not. In my opinion, chlorine in your beer is not an "oh well, let's see how it turns out" kind of thing. It won't taste as it should, and it could make you sick. Not worth the risk.
It was their Belgian Trippel in the large can, with Safale T-58.
Shooting the videos (which were how-to brew videos for the most part) took me a couple of months, but I had doubles for each style and brewed them in advance of shooting the videos.
They aged plenty.
Looking forward to hearing how that All grain turned out Conroe. I just spent about two months brewing various Mr. Beer "recipes" for some how-to videos I was doing. I have so much beer in this house it's crazy. The one I liked the most was their Belgian Trippel, really nice beer, and the German...
A few months ago I tested out a Mr. Beer recipe kit and fermenter to write a review for my website. Mr. Beer is definitely a great way to get into homebrewing, and even casual hobbyists who prefer to not get too involved with larger setups, can brew decent beer, consistently, as often as they...
