New Glarus Moon Man Clone Help

Interesting. If that's the case, the simcoe is the 5th hop. I do plan on brewing a "similar" moon man beer soon. Cant wait to see how it tastes.

New Glarus Moon Man Clone Help

Im fairly certain that motueka isn't in it. My source said that Riwaka was the NZ hop, but they sub in Citra for it when not available (so pretty much always...haha). No idea what the 5th is. However the person said that the 4 I know would give you a pretty close version, so Im assuming it...

New Glarus Moon Man Clone Help

I started this thread a long time ago, and kind of lost track of it as I moved and haven't been brewing much in the last year and a half. Anyways, glad to see a long of interest in it. I can tell you have I for certain 4 of the 5 hops, unfortunately, I don't want to tell them in fear of...

    First Time Attmepting Sour Mash

When I did a sour mash beer I mashed like normal, then let it cool to 110 and threw in a handfull of grain. I left all the grain, didnt remove any of it. Then put plastic wrap on top to cut off all air, then put some plastic wrapped pink foam on top. Did it all in a cooler to help keep it...

    Cheap stir bar question

The stir bar should be no longer than the distance apart from the magnets. If its too large it will throw all the time. It took me forever to figure that out.

New Glarus Moon Man Clone Help

I hate to not give too much info out here without trying anything myself, but I do have a little update to my initial post. The hops given were off....way off. The only one that was correct was Riwaka. I found out they use citra in place of the Riwaka most times though since Riwaka is hard to...

    Which refractometer should I buy?

I only ever use a refractometer now. Works great. The few times I have tested with a hydrometer its been spot on. Its way easier to use a refractometer too.

    Hydrometer reading 1.04? Ok?

It might be OK, but we dont know how much water you added that too to find out what the gravity should be.

Imperial Stout Dark Night of the Soul Russian Imperial Stout

So I made this recipe about 14 months ago. I finally cracked it open and tried it out. It seems very....sweet? I checked the FG 3 different times, with both a refractometer and hydrometer, and they were both at 1.020 exactly. Maybe thats normal, but I really wasnt expecting that. Anyone...

New Glarus Moon Man Clone Help

Very interesting. Wish we new for sure what the other hops were. If I hadnt of just made an IBA this past weekend with the hops and grains I ordered from Steelers77, I would think about trying this. Need to work on bugging my buddy and see if he can come up with more to go with citra/riwaka.

Spotted Cow Extract Clone Help / Challenge...Will Donate $25 to HomeBrewTalk

Cant believe this thread is still going! Ive made way too many gallons of this. Only thing my wife likes, and its always good for when people come over who drink BMC. They cry when I give them an IPA =D The recipe I posted still is the closest I have come. I havent added any hops closer to...

    Kegcowboy.com

Similar experience here. Ordered a few things, after no word a week later emailed to find out whats up. 1 thing was out of stock (thanks for letting me know). I said refund me for the plate chiller (no eta on restock) and ship the rest. After 5 emails finally got a refund (after they said...

Wyeast Roselare - Aerate Wort Before Pitching?

I will say it again, you should aerate the wort like normal. The sacc yeast needs it. The bugs will not be doing their thing before the O2 is used up. Aerate like normal than pitch the roeselare. Good to go.

What do you use to measure your gravity?

Thats the site I always use too. Highly recommended.
