    what is this bug?!?!?!

i found this little worm making a cozy little nest by folding my hop leaf over and sealing itself inside in a web type cocoon. i already killed the worm:rockin: but he wasn't terribly big, probably a quarter inch long with a tan body and black head. Does anyone know what this could possibly...

    Is my yeast to tired?!?!

Thanks guys I really appreciate the input. I tasted it today and it is really good! The smoke and chocolate flavors are mellowed out quite nicely and the aroma and taste of oak is definatly there but no-where near overwhelming so i wanted to go ahead and bottle it now before the oak gets...

    Is my yeast to tired?!?!

A buddy of mine that had a beer sitting in secondary for months ended up having problems with it carbonating. After a little research we concluded that a possible reason could be that the yeast was worn out from just sitting for so long. Also if i remember correctly it was a fairly high ABV...

What do you use for IPA?

Because i live in Florida and dont have a Temp. controlled cooler yet, would you use the WLP001 for the beers you knew would be fermenting a little higher like 70-74? Or would you still try the English strain? I love IPA's and would like to experiment some more with them.

I had a buddy that used the Pacman yeast in the same recipe also and his turned out quite well but the 001...

The people that i've talked to say that specially for down here you want to have morning sun and afternoon shade but the problem is that the spot i originally picked to plant them gets virtually no morning sun and a lot of...

Its really not that hard...(for newbies like me)

+1 on getting that brew kettle going. I recently bottled my second beer and am bottling my third tonight. Its easy to see that there is an addiction building!! Congrats on your first beer:mug:

    Numbers of plants?

I agree completely with lurker. Im new to brewing and hop growing and have done TONS of research about hops and most all sites and resources say that planting at least two per hill is recommended.

looking to buy a new pot.

Im also new to brewing but i just bought a 40qt. pot and turkey fryer so i can start AG and i am COMPLETELY happy that i went ahead and bought a 40qt pot instead of a 20 or 30 qt. Also i believe with bigger pots you can do "full boils" even with extract recipes.
