I just bottled 3 gallons tonight and shared a bottle with 4 other people the group was split on whether or not they liked it, but I did and I have all the bottles so thats all that matters. :mug: :drunk:

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I think mine is done. Its been almost 6 weeks and its defiantly a lot darker than the cloudy juice that went into it. There is still an occasional bubble in the airlock maybe one bubble per 5 mins if that, but there are no more small bubbles rising and all the yeast seems to be collected at the...

Mines been fermenting a little over 2 weeks now and the fermentation has slowed substantially. I'm assuming this is normal? But this is my first attempt at making my own wine so I just want to make sure.

How many gallons of EdWort's Apfelwein have been made?

Does it count if it's still fermenting?

Perhaps this is why I had a blow off, its about 72-74F in the room that I'm fermenting in. Should it be cooler?

I guess I'll just let it go for now then, maybe after the bubbling slows down I'll clean it out. Thanks for the help.

So I guess I had a blowoff. At least I think thats what it is. The foam from the top of the juice has gotten into the airlock and over the stopper. Here's some pictures: Now what do I do?

Anyone ever re-capped/corked marinelli's sparkling cider bottles?

Thanks. I'm assuming since the bottles come with sparkling cider in them that they are ok to hold carbonated beverages as well right?

Anyone ever re-capped/corked marinelli's sparkling cider bottles?

Do you use beer bottle caps or corks?

Anyone ever re-capped/corked marinelli's sparkling cider bottles?

I was just at sam's club and I bought a case (12 bottles for $5) of martinelli's sparkling apple cider. Since I love the juice anyway I thought it may also be a convenient solution for when it comes time to bottle my apfelwine. The bottles look like standard 750mL wine bottles but they are...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Just an update for anyone who might care, its been a little over 12 hours and I'm getting a bubble every 2-3 seconds so it seems to be working. I also see a small layer of what I believe to be kreusen(sp?) forming.

Alright, I did it!!! It's in the corner hopefully starting to do its thing. I want to thank everyone for the help. I'll probably have more questions throughout the process, and I now know that there will be a great group of people to help talk me through it. :mug:

I'm going to go to the hippie grocery store and get organic juice. So you can ignore the absorbic acid question, but I do have a new one. How much water/vodka do I need to put in my airlock? I have an "S type" on that looks identical to this one: Airlock. Once again forgive my ignorance and...
