Should I join a "club" that allows me in?

You were absolutely correct! My bad I missed that one.

    Fermentation question

I would guess that the OP is likely not using a bucket since they seem to have good visibility into what is happening, namely the green color on top, Krausen, and particularly the trub formation at that bottom. BUT that is great callout...I have definitely had that experience! Depending on the...

    Fermentation question

A picture may be helpful. What yeast did you use? What temp are you fermenting at? Is there airlock activity?

Should I join a "club" that allows me in?

My only recommendations would be to try a champagne yeast as well! I think that might end with a nice result and should help clear the cider as well. I also know that some folks will use sparkolloid for fining their wines...so I imagine it would work here too!

    Starting a yeast bank

Bionic, You are spot on for having US-04 and US-05 in the mix. Every brewer should likely have those on tap. I am in a similar situation as you, as my LHBS recently closed so I have taken to milling my own grain and creating a yeast bank. Nothing makes you feel powerful like the ability to...

Should I join a "club" that allows me in?

Hey Bob, welcome aboard! Sounds like you have an impressive variety of projects to keep you busy! Sounds like you are well on your way to having your first ciders. A couple of questions: Do you intend to carbonate any of your ciders, or would you like them all to be still? Which varieties of...

    What are you drinking now?

Sorry to bump a 8 month old post: Hey Elric, would you be willing to share your recipe for this? After trying Obtuse Spruce in michigan a few years ago it has left a void in my life. Would love to try this out!

    Multiple bad batches

What would you recommend as an alternative? I am in the bucket camp as well. I would like to stay plastic if possible (fermonster, big mouth bubbler, etc) but could make the switch to glass if absolutely necessary.

    First Keezer Gas Leak

New canister in and everything seems to be holding. I really cranked on the MFL connector so I think that was it. Submerged everything but the regulator in water to check for bubbles and nothing.

    First Keezer Gas Leak

I don't have any tight bends, but do have a loop or two so that may be something to check. I know the keg is good and the regulator is good from my last keg. The fact that this tank drained so quickly this time makes me think it is just something that contracted as it got cold and may have to...

    First Keezer Gas Leak

I'm just using standard hose clamps with the Philip's head fastener. Most barbs are 1/4 inch OD but I made sure to get 5/16 OD barbs to be snugger on my 5/16 ID hose. All connections have hose clamps to barbs. All MFL connections have nylon washers where they may come in contact with metal...

    First Keezer Gas Leak

Just kegged my second beer a few days ago and check this afternoon to find an empty CO2 canister. Perhaps my nifty new MFL quick connects are the culprit? I checked for leaks when warm and after a day of sitting in the keezer...so this one really snuck up on me. Going to get a refill of CO2...

How do you set up your aquarium pump to dry lines?

+1 for "repurposing" homebrew gadgets. If you really want to make it work, you can use an aquarium pump as a recirculating wort chiller by placing it in ice water and connection to your immersion chiller. Saves a ton of water and cools quickly.

    Best Online Store

Whichever one is running a 15-20% sale any given day! Northern Brewer just had a large labor day sale. MoreBeer is great. Kegconnection seems to have trouble staying in stock, but they have a cool podcast "Homebrew Happy Hour" so I am a bit sentimental for them. Bell's Brewing ships out of...
