HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I'm busy working on a much bigger project right now. I'll announce it here when I finish up the prototype. Basic unit uses the 8266, full blown needs the 32. Board is socketed to accept either. Tool chain hasn't really been a hindrance since I'm writing my own device drivers. Other libraries I...

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

I've been working with both processors. It's easy to write code that works on both. What 'firmware' are you referring to?

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

You might consider upgrading to an ESP32. More power. More pins. Only $10. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0718T232Z/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

If I were to implement this function, I'd ditch the Pi and Arduino and go with just a $10 ESP32. It can do both the temp controlling and web/internet stuff. No unix/Pi required. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0718T232Z/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

55 Gallon RO water tank build

I use (2) 44gal Brutes w/castor bases. One for the RO and the other to harvest the brine (washing clothes/watering yard/whatever). The only Brutes that are food safe are the grey or yellow ones, btw. I use aquarium type submersible pumps to move water. Sight tubes to see levels. Plastic...

    Brewmometer in M/L Tun

I'm liking that false bottom setup, also. Didn't like the idea of having one attached with flexible hose (clumsy, remember?) so I bought that hardware at Adventures In Homebrewing. Bulkhead seals nice. Rigid stainless tube keeps false bottom on the bottom. And yes, that bottom is purdy. Seems...

    Brewmometer in M/L Tun

I just added some pics to my orig post. Here is a pic of the tools used. Note that the bulkhead has left hand threads, so tightening up the meter won't loosen it. I didn't spray replacement foam, as I want to remove the fitting for cleaning. Don't want nasties in the threads.

    Brewmometer in M/L Tun

I had considered the stopper method, but went with a bulkhead for several reasons: 1) I'm a bit clumsy, and feared banging it loose with my paddle. Didn't want sugar water in between inner and outer shell. 2) Bulkhead could be used to mount thermowell if/when I automate. 3) Bulkhead only costs...

    Costco Kegerator

I got my Danby Designer Model DKC645BLS around 6 month ago from Walmart. Works fine so far. Keeps my beer cold enough. Lowest setting is 36. Max is 46. Displays temps in C or F. The rails on top feel like they are made from aluminum foil, but serve their function. Just don't push on them. I...

    Brewmometer in M/L Tun

I used a plastic bulkhead connector from US Plastics, item # 12787 for my Igloo 10 gal coolers. It's made of Polypropylene with a Santoprene gasket. (meets FDA standards) I orientated it backwards (inside poking out) to give me the offset so the dial clears outer shell of cooler. Used a 2-1/2"...

    Mash Paddle?

Is this not the crafting your tribes magic brew stick? Is this not the magic stick which makes your tribes brew so desired or the land? It caries it's secrets from batch to batch or generations. It is your familial and tribal heritage. (orchalstral crescendo ends abruptly) In my...

Brew Haulers in water. Are they 'seaworthy'?

Rather than bleach, use h2o2 (hydrogen peroxide) to control the nasties. That and an air pump and stone.
