Took Fri off to brew a 10 Gal AG batch Pale Ale recipe I came up with mostly based on the parameters for Ale Werks Chesapeake Pale Ale in Williamsburg, VA. I tweaked it a bit and used Chinook 60 min

Lactose is an unfermentable milk sugar that adds a creaminess to beer. Based on the OP's desire for a mango gelato (Italian ice cream) pale ale, adding lactose sounds like a great idea. I typically add the lactose at the last 10min of the boil.

I have had/been using this hydrometer for the better part of 10 years and have never once looked at the paper that came wit it to see what temp it is calibrated to! Ha! Will have to check that out.
Thanks. Yeah, I have typically had pretty accurate readings with the refractometer and have just never had such a huge gap in readings previously. Maybe PFM...🤷♂️
