I bottled this today ... FG came in at 1.012 ... so it did need a couple more weeks to ferment. I moved it from my cellar back up to the 1st floor after the last gravity reading, Im thinking that might have helped
I took a taste of this today also, and WOW. This is really an excellent...
I just took a Secondary Gravity reading ... it was 1.018
Can I expect the gravity to hit a lower # at this point?
Also, I was going to rack to a secondary and dry hop, but with the higher reading I decided to leave it in the primary and dry hop there.
I just femented this brew ...
A few things ...
1) I did this BIAB
2) Mashed with about 4.5 gallons water @ 154
3) Sparged "pour over" style with about 1.5 gallons 162deg water ... also did the "tea bag" effect in the pot
4) Added extra 0.5 ounce of williamette @ 15 mins
5) had about 4.25...
I just tasted my first beer from this batch ... its pretty good. I do not taste the cocoa like I thought I would, so I think next time I would soak in vodka for sure.
I brewed an all grain BIAB chocolate stout three weeks ago and added the cocoa nibs to the primary a week ago ... i didnt soak them in vodka or anything. Didnt rack to secondary either ... should I have anything to worry about?
Soooo, on my first BIAB try, I did everything pretty close to 100% correct. It is a Chocolate Stout, tasted great right after the boil. A much more gratifying experience than my two previous extract brews. Anyway, I have everything ready to go, take a gravity reading in the fermenter (1.055)...
This is an English Pale Ale I brewed yesterday. Its my 2nd batch. The first was a Cream Ale, and it started bubbling within 24 hours. Also, I never saw any of the little white blobs like on this one. I'm worried about a few things:
1) that its not really bubbling at all
2) that it may be...
Hello all ... also a new homebrewer from Western Mass. I currently have my first batch in bottles, an American Cream Ale. I got it without much thought and then realized it wasnt going to be much like a pale ale at all, haha. NOOB, move.
So, I just brewed an English Pale Ale from another kit...
