    Electric keggle boil time?

Using a 5500W element in a keggle and fly sparging I turn the element on at full power as soon as the wort covers the heater. The wort is boiling within a couple minutes, and I have to throttle it down before the sparging is finished even with a full keggle. I mashout at 170 degrees with my...

    Homegrown Hops Recipe (All Grain)

Suthrncomfrt1884, That sounds like a good idea. I almost just bagged the centennial and cascade together, but thought I could always blend them later. Would you mind posting the recipe that you used for your Amber? Thanks :mug:

Looking to make a Bells Amber clone. Anyone have an AG recipe?

Thanks for the update! I just harvested some homegrown cascade hops, and I'm thinking Michigan grown hops deserve to be brewed in a Michigan beer. Looking forward to hear how it turned out :mug:

    Freezing Wet hops for storage?

From what I've read, it varies. However, the rule of thumb is to use 5 times as much wet hops as dry.

    Freezing Wet hops for storage?

Has anyone tried vacuum sealing and freezing wet hops? Any reasons not to do this? Seems like if you don't need to worry about shipping the hops it may not be worth the effort to dry them.

    Homemade Insecticidal Soap

This mixture works good for leak detection of CO2 on kegs and regulators too. Just mix some up and in a spray bottle and use it for both purposes.

    Perforated Stainless Steel Tubing

I found this on Ebay. I'm sure someone has a use for this stuff right now. I bet it would make a killer replacement for a stainless braid. Not sure how rigid it is though... Tubing

    Hydrogen Peroxide for Aeration

Has anyone considered using hydrogen peroxide to aerate/oxygenate there wort prior to pitching? It is my understanding that H2O2 would decompose into two H2O molecules and one O2 molecule. Maybe someone with more of a chemistry background can chime in. :drunk: Seeing as how hydrogen...

    Any MI folks Attending

Apfelwein with DME instead of corn sugar

Has anyone tried making Apfelwein by substituting light DME for the two pounds of corn sugar? How did it turn out? I'm thinking the procedure would be to boil the two pounds of DME with a gallon of juice. Transfer to the fermentor, top off with the rest of the juice, and pitch the montrechet...
