would cooling the tempature below the yeasts favored prime environment to flourish do about the same thing to stop the process without adding anything? or does the fructose in the strawberry's just give the yeast another go at something to ferment?

I know that in brewing beer some types work better dependant on the pH of the water, is there any specifics or guidelines for mead as well?

I was reading more in depth about hops being a preservative, so ultimately yeah I think the style of beer your brewing would make the most difference. Something with a really high hop bitterness would last longer. I even read something about how certain IPA's are able to be stored for up to 2...

I always wondered the difference myself between the glass carboy or plastic bucket debate. Only reason i figured it would be any different was I've noticed if i drink beer from a glass bottle, it tastes slightly "better" or "cleaner" to me than say if it was in a can...

For pipe tobacco, I have been smoking a mixture lately thats 1/3 St. Burley, 1/3 Black Cavendish, and 1/3 a blend called 1Q by Lane (we call it Spartacus at the shop I work at). Its a very mellow smoke, doesn't burn hot, and has a slight almost vanilla overtone to it without being too sweet...

I agree whole heartedly... Most joints I go to charge way too much, so i usually prefer a tall can or two before i head into the bar. Then i can be ok with getting one or a pitcher for more of a social situation with friends.

Thanks for the insight on that. I hadn't thought about the silicone seals as a spot for growth but makes sense. And the HDPE barrels do sound like an easier/cheaper to modify project. Just looking to up my output of finished product. My household goes through alot of beer lol
