    Keezer or Kegerator

I have an opportunity to pick up a Danby 5.8 Cu ft kegerator for just about free. My reservations on this is it comes with a 2.5 gallon c02.. Most of what I researched on this website is people are using 5 gallon. I'm also a bit concerned about the regulator (being that I can't see specifics...

    Equipment quesiton - kegging

Long time reader, thinking of jumping into kegging. I have an equipment question. I just got an email from Beverage Factory showing a 20% discount on some draft beer items. I've been playing with the idea of converting a dorm refrigerator into a kegerator but from my research, for a few...

Fermentation can take 24 to 72 hrs to show visible signs.

It's been 48 hours and still nothing other than some air bubbles at the top of my beer. Is there a point where I should intervene? I did prime my yeast with 110 degree water then slowly brought it my wort temp by adding wort. Right now my carboy is at 62 degrees. I also removed my airlock to...

It's been 20 hours an no visible signs of fermentation yet - should I shake the wort to aerate every few hours until I see something?

    Chill wort for 2 hours?

Is it safe to chill wort longer? My wort may need to stay in an ice bath 2 hours.

From 1 gallon to 5 gallon - thoughts?

Can you please elaborate on this? 1) Do you need a wort chiller because the 10 gallon pot wont fit in the sink? With the bigger volume of liquid you need to chill differently? 2) What is your rational for needing a 10 gallon pot to BIAB? Thank you!

From 1 gallon to 5 gallon - thoughts?

I don't have the space either. So I will need to do a partial with steeping grains. When doing so, and adding in water at the end - does this negatively impact the beer when compared with a full boil like I'm doing with my 1 gallon?

From 1 gallon to 5 gallon - thoughts?

I'm on my second 1 gallon batch - I bottle tomorrow - and if it turns out good, I'm going to consider stepping up to a 5 gallon brew. Can you share with me the major differences between the two? Things I should be considering? Do I really need a secondary? Thank you!
