New to kegging and getting frustrated with oxidation

I've been kegging for many years, and I don't consider myself to be particularly careful about the process. No closed loops, no extraordinary measures, and no worrying. I have truly never had issues with oxidation; in fact it amazes me how long a beer continues to taste fresh when kept fully...

    AI (Artificial Intelligence)

AI and Machine Learning are essentially marketing terms describing the statistical modeling of data. There are many ways to use the outputs to drive other processes, but learning and intelligence are really total misnomers. To vastly oversimplify the processes, data is modeled and categorized...

    Amarillo + Citra + Simcoe = GROSS

I still like Simcoe in the right place and by itself, but I think the dry hopping over the very fruity hops is a bad move. We all associate dank, catty flavors together with fruit as something spoiling.

    Windows 11

The Windows 11 upgrade was painless on the systems I've upgraded. But my wife's laptop isn't supported, although it's not old. The CPU isn't one that MS has blessed. My parents had to buy a new printer, as their beloved Brother inkjet didn't function. The main driver, for most folks in a...

    Anchor closing?!

I was always a bigger fan of the porter, although their steam beer was also something unique. And Liberty ale once upon a time was the hoppiest thing we'd seen. Anchor shut down before, before Fritz Maytag bought it and turned it around. Anything's possible, but we're in a period of...

    Apple Cider or Juice

You can make a great product either way. Usually "apple juice" in the store is cooked, so there is obviously a change in flavor, and big brands go for a uniform product. That means you will get an expected outcome as well. Depending upon fermentation, I think there's a bit more opportunity...

    Mixed fermentation lag time

Not much is going to be "happy" starting out in a mid-3 range unless it's a massive culture. That's near where acid sanitizers work. As fermentation progresses, the pH drops further still.

    Kegco Mill?

I received mine yesterday. It is a beast compared to my old Valley Mill, which I have used since the 90's. This is built so much more robustly, it seems unlikely I'll need to replace it. But I'll get to work testing that theory.....

Make sure the valve is closed.

There once was a cooler of water filled with grain that was milled by my daughter. In goes 162 All over my shoe in a fit of dumb IPA slaughter.
