    egg shells for clarifying???

It has only been a couple of days, I read it takes around 5-7 to clear. We shall see. As for salmonella, really not a worry in my 17% alcohol wine. This is the key as why alcohol was so important at meals historically. There are many articles on this just plug in wine or alcohol and...

I raise my own chickens for eggs, organic no soy or corn, and am using them to try this little experiment. Wish me luck!

Thanks, just what I needed. I don't plan on heating the juice though.

    Carrot wine is delicious!

Can I simply use organic carrot juice? It isn't any different really than any other juiced wines I have done.

    What kind of bottle...

Awesome take. I have a closet that is dedicated to my new found love of wine making. I have just now started to collect various bottles. In the spring I have a large mulberry tree I plan to make lots of wine with and a neighbors loquat tree. So we are a bit bottle challenged still here.

    Pumpkin wine question

I won't have an issue with the juiced pumpkin. I have used it with wonderful success so far. Sugar is added and a peptic enzymel. I am going to have to add some acid as well, pumpkin is a low acid fruit. All my plans are layer out for Sunday morning.

    What kind of bottle...

I use green only so far. The future may see blue, but not now. I try and use the Bordeaux bottles for grape wines and then the fruits I put on the shoulders green bottles. However, I will say bottling solo is easier with those shoulders as markers. I do this is strictly so I can grab and...

    Pumpkin wine question

I am curious as well, but I am going to juice my pumpkins and since all wine uses raw fruits it makes sense to me. I have an omega 8006 so it acts similar to an apple press. I am planning to start my pumpkin wine on Sunday, so I will be interested to hear the responses.

    Pear Wine

If you are near an Azure Drop, D'Anjou pears are 27.50 for organics and transitional pears are 18.00 for 20# They should make a great wine! I have juicing apples on the way and can't wait until they arrive!!

    Pear Wine

I haven't tried much else with mine, I am a newbie. I was told that my wine wouldn't clear if I used the juicer, but since mine is a masticating - it preses and grinds - not a blender type it made the difference. It cleared beautifully. I would LOVE to hear what comes of your brandy or...

    Pear Wine

I just bottled my Pear wine. My first efforts, but everyone has raved about it. So seems a great success. As for me, I made it just as I like it, a nice dry beautiful to drink and excellently colored wine. I had bosc pears off my tree I raise organically, picked and set at room temperature...
