Have to post and say thanks! This was my 2nd batch of beer ever and friends (some who've been brewing for years) said this was one of the best IPAs they've ever had. I'll be brewing this one again for sure.:)
Below is the (basic) governing formula so you can see you want to maximize the temperature differential and the surface area. You would have had more luck putting it in a snow bank, feel free to borrow mine I have plenty to spare.

For 600 dollars they would come with a happy ending..
I think missed my point (probably I didn't illustrate it well enough). What I am saying is; it would be hard to penetrate this niche market by competing on both price and quality. I have no idea how many units are sold from the American...
I just used a 1/2" drill bit and went down from the top of the compressor hump. Step bit won't have the depth required because of the insulation. Ran lines through and reattached the NPT fittings.
Disclaimer: Use common sense and don't drill through something you shouldn't. I could...
I own a design and manufacturing company and if I've learned anything in my experience is never try to compete on a cost basis. We in north America can make things better but rarely cheaper. I'd make a better mill but I'd want to sell it for 600 dollars haha.
Just ordered everything for the extract version only thing I'm unclear on is the boil size? I just realized a full 6 gallon boil will be impossible for me.
Not to thread jack but just as an update to what I posted above. I used the 4.4ft^3 version and it fit 2 kegs no problem. I also used the 5.5" recommendation from this thread to space the hole from the back. It tucks neatly behind the light and controls and doesn't interfere with anything. I...
Is that a 10lb tank on the hump in the back? I have everything but the fridge but I'm pretty much sold on the war488bsl if it will hold the 2 cornys and the 10lb tank inside.
Sorry if I missed it but where did you get the conical end/flange from? I had a customer who I've welded bungs into kegs for ask for this. I was just going to laser cut the flange and sheetmetal but if there is something existing that would be a lot easier.
Looks great!
Ben
