    Co2 Leak in Keezer

Just checking, did you open your CO2 tank ALL the way open, then a hair more? I lost all my CO2. The gas place told me that there is a 'top seal' you need to snug up by opening the tank all the way. Been fine ever since.

    Leaving kettle trub behind...

Have you tried a batch or two where you just throw it all in to the primary, trub and all? I used to try to separate but, as you, got tired of the waste. After I started just dumping the whole kettle in I found hat everything settles in the Primary, the beer is still fantastic, and it cuts a...

    Bottle conditioned beer

 After only two weeks? You serious? Talk about a lot of work; chances for bottle-bombs; and/or ghastly over carb'd beer.

1st all grain tips or pointers?

I dunno. Guess I'll be the buzz kill and say don't over think it. Relax and have fun; enjoy the experience. It's actually kinda hard to _really_ screw it up (aside from poor sanitation). We're not cracking the atom or doing something that nature wouldn't do anyway if we weren't around .....

    First all-grain was pretty easy...

Indeed. I find AG batch to actually be easier in several ways than full boil extract batches. AG may take longer, but I can fill a lot of the dead time with other activities. I still do the occasional extract, but those are usually partial boils on the stove top for something to throw in a...

    Tiger Bait Pale

:mug: Absolutely super. I'll see if I can get a pic or two, but I only crack brews at night and the lighting may not do it any justice. I did the recipe straight up and hit all the numbers almost deadon. I ended up using WLP051 which worked really well, although it is slow. I got kegging...

    LHBS or On Line Retailer

Just to stir the pot, that is a bit of a false economy, no? LHBS 'profits' go into paying local rent, local taxes, keeping property values up by not showing a bunch of boarded up store fronts, and so on. Unless you are really being raked over the coals, the final price difference once all is...

I am already a beer snob! how?

+1 I was going to say that you aren't a snob until you lecture the person serving the BMC on the error of their ways or run down (i did not say "disagree with") others in forum threads for not liking what you like or bowing to your superior brew-I-tude. Having knowledge and preferring different...

Almost died tonight, and almost killed someone

+1. I wrote a reply similar to yours and DMartin, but deleted it after I decided the thread was a bit of a gun wank that probably came about after a, justifiably, emotional event. If the story happened as the OP says, he is damn lucky he didn't pop the Leo who "slid in" as he started his...

    Gaming PC Advice

I did not read the rest of the install guide. But to the lay readers out there, I would say the above analysis is flawed, at best. I did some googling to see if I missed anything and I could not find one authoritative source to corroborate the Win8 128b assertions or even it's release "shortly"...

    Gaming PC Advice

+1 However, I would not install anything on it but the bear necessities for the OS. Even with leveling, SSD drives have finite amount of writes they can take (read operations are far and away the biggest OS use of the primary drive). Limiting the applications to a good HDD will also save...

    NOOB brew pot question

In that case I'd say get two pails, two carboys, and four air locks. That gives you more flexibility, IMHO. The carboys are also good for dry hopping and oaking. Despite other's better judgement, I regularly use a secondary. Other's mileage may vary' of course. Well, yeah. Maybe. Those levers...

    BeerSmith Worth $$

+ 1 I also use BeerSmith as a database of recipes. BSmith allows you to add notes and realized values to your recipes I'll put the new recipe in, tweak as you describe, then print the brew schedule from there. At the end of the day I'll usually update with my scribbles that I jotted down...

I'm leaving a LOT of beer in the brew kettle--help

Do you mean inlet [of your siphon hose]? Are the nylons sterile out of the pack? No off flavors? In your comparison, did both taste the same? Crystal clear beer is not my primary concern (and I am not OP), but off flavors are. I use whirl floc AND have tons of inseperable trub in the dregs of...
