    Lactobacillus contamination in regulator??

Not sourness (Brett), but dry / buttery flavor and mouthfeel (Lacto? I wouldn't think Diacetyl?). These Seltzers were made with fresh citrus, so I could easily have introduced something un-intended. I've got a Micromatic 942B, I'll look into disassembly & cleaning.

    Lactobacillus contamination in regulator??

Hello all- I pushed 5x kegs of seltzer over the weekend for my wedding. I force carbed at ~30 psi prior when carbonating at ~36 F... Several of these kegs rose in temp and pressure while waiting for serving. There is no check valve on my regulator, so several kegs back-fed pressure into my...

    Checking a hydrometer

G'morning- Anyone noticed a difference in hydrometer readings between StarSan and water? After I pull a sample and get a Gravity, I just fill the test cylinder with StarSan and plunk the hydrometer back in for a double check and a quick clean.... It wasn't until this morning that I...

    First Lager Questions...

I used a hydrometer for this reading and checked it in water after. The sample tasted right on, obviously sweet though. No buttery notes that I could taste thru the sweet. I will admit, that I was drinking an IPA while pulling and tasting the sample so I may have blown out my taste-buds :(...

    Silicone waterless air locks?

I've heard that S-Shaped Airlocks http://morebeer.com/view_product/16599/103702/Airlock_-_S-Shaped can gurgle both forwards and backwards (in and out) I just picked some up to try... I had a recent Pale ale pull in about a pint of Sanitizer out of my blow-off during cooling. I was a very...

What can be used to stop infection at bottling?

ditto clean and sanitize... Recently, I noticed a small about of 'nasty' inside my bottle filler. No amount of scrubbing nor a 48 hr soak in star-san would dislodge it. So, I picked up a new one... Always inspect your equipment. :mug: I've found bottling bucket spigots to always be a...

    First Lager Questions...

Long-time lurker, first-time poster here… I’ve been brewing for about 3.5 years, all grain for about 2. I figure I’d take another step and try a Lager. I’ve got a 7 ft^3 freezer with a temp controller sitting at 50 degrees for fermentation. But I’ve got a realm of questions about a starter...
