    Hop infusion affects carbonation?

I tried two versions that day, the south pac w sorachi ace and then cascade with yoopers pale ale...both were similarly much less carbonated. I will give another try and let site for short period of time (1-2 min) before pouring. Also considered filling 12oz bottles with it instead of a larger...

    Hop infusion affects carbonation?

The water filter everyone uses for this literally only holds a pint of beer (after unhooking it from the keg, I pour out what is in the container and it almost always fills the pint glass to the top). So when I fill the growler, it basically mixes the pint that sat for 10 min's with another...

    Hop infusion affects carbonation?

Yeah that would make sense, just don't hear about it from others that use a hop randall. The growler top was well sealed (I tip it upside down and look/listen for any air or beer escaping). Plus it was only 3-4 hrs from fill to pouring. Even if it was not air tight, it would not have lost its...

    Hop infusion affects carbonation?

Built my own hop randall. Only used fruits in it up until yesterday. Entered two beers in a friendly beer competition, one was my South Pacific IPA. I bought 2 oz of whole cone Sorachi Ace and put that in the hop randall. Filled it and let sit for 10 minutes then proceeded with filling the...

Specialty IPA: Black IPA Black Shadow - Cascadian Dark Ale aka Black IPA

'First wort hopping'. Usually abbreviated as FWH in recipes. Depending on your style of brewing will determine when to add the hops. I use BIAB technique so I just add them to my kettle as the bag is lifted out to drain. If you sparge, then add them to the first runnings. If you brew extract...

Specialty IPA: Black IPA Black Shadow - Cascadian Dark Ale aka Black IPA

Drinking this currently. Second time I've brewed it, and really like it. Added extra ounce of Citra at 10min. Thick/oily is certainly not how I Would describe it. Need details to your process. What yeast, temp, etc...

    The Brown Barn Brewery Build

Dream come true right there....granted my wife probably wouldn't like the spending I would do in order to brew 10-15 gal batches. Congrats, that's a beautiful piece of land right there!

Hop bag or loose pellets in kettle?

I leave my sack in the wort as the IC cools it (I have flame out additions a lot, so technically should stay in the wort for 15-20 minutes anyways...) after this ant of time my sack is usually cool enough that I can squeeze it comfortably with my naked hands. After I work all the juices out of...

Hop bag or loose pellets in kettle?

Technically, you will lose a couple IBU's if you sack it according to Brulosipher,https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=576389 But not sure if he squeezed all wort out of the hop sack, if not then that could have been where those two IBU's went.

Hop bag or loose pellets in kettle?

I BIAB, I choose to use the hop sacks during boil and for dry hopping. I do not whirlpool, just cool the Wort, squeeze out the hop sack good and pour it all into the fermenter. I do not squeeze the dry hop bag though, it's been said this leads to increased grassy flavors...You won't lose...

    Fresh Squeezed IPA (Deschutes Inspired)

Well, I guess just neglect all that info out there stating higher mash temps create more long chain sugars which are not chopped down by the yeast leading to more unfermented sugar in the beer...and a less dried out overall taste...it's fact. But you apparently don't detect a difference b/w a FG...

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

The corona with the proper adjustments and a drill chew through 15lb of grain in less than 2 min's....it's a thing of beauty to watch it and bask in the steady 75% BIAB efficiency I now get! So glad I went this route rather than the hundreds of $$ on a fancy boy mill :)

    Oatmeal Apricot IPA

yeah, you might be good on that depending on how much of the apricot taste you want to come through. Good thing with Apricot is it has a pretty high level of "sour" to it, so it really would blend well with a Saison. I would say my recipe almost has a "farmhouse" taste to it even though the...

    Oatmeal Apricot IPA

Thought I'd share my first ever custom recipe I've developed. This is the first time it's been brewed and honestly it's so good I don't really think I would tweak it much if at all! My dad is a huge Pyramid Apricot fan and I brewed this for his birthday. I'm not a big wheat fan so I wanted to...
