Not trying to hijack this thread, but I've got some 'Maple' questions along the same lines as well....
I'm brewing 10 gallons of Maple Nut Brown Ale and am debating about when to add the Maple Syrup Grade B.....either in last 3 minutes of boil OR directly in the secondary fermenter. I see...
As far as cost is concerned, the Czech Republic is a very affordable country to visit if you can get there. Even though they're a part of the EU, they're currency is still the Czech Crown--not the Euro. It hasn't officially changed over yet.
If you make a trip to Prague or Plzen (Home of...
I appreciate the prompt responses.
My only concern to adding the Maple Syrup in during the boil is that it will cook off all of the maple flavor? I considered adding it in the last minute of the boil to pasteurize it, but decided to simply add after the flame goes out.
I have even seen...
A few days ago I had the privilege of visiting a Beer Spa in Chodova Plana, Czech Republic. The experience inlcuded a massage followed by a 20 minute dip into a warm beer bath for two....my fiancee came along. They also had a grain wrap, but we didn't experience that. They even served me 2...

Not all Belgian beer is for guys
I mentioned earlier in this thread that my fiancée was coming with me on this trip to Belgium. Shes not a big beer drinker, but she is from Milwaukee .
I always ordered for us both, and heres a list of beers that any wife or girlfriend will enjoy...
Heres a few things to remember when making the pilgrimage .
LESSONS LEARNED:
1. If you go, try not to be there on a Sunday or Monday. Everything is closed or has limited hours!
2. If you want to buy things at Bier Tempel and then mail them from Brussels, theres a small post office...
The trip is just about over ..Ill provide a little re-cap of some of the places visited and beer consumed.
Hopefully this thread will give ideas on places and recommended beers for others that travel to Belgium.
Brussels bars: Le Bier Circus & Delirium Café had by far the best selections...
The subject line says it....I will be arriving in Belgium tomorrow morning and hangin out for 4-5 days. I know some of you out there have made the pilgrimage (olllllo, brewtopia, glibbidy, freyguy---all the guys who gave me good travel advice when I was enroute) and others are simply awaiting...
Great Feedback.
OK, I'm tracking that I have 3 solid options right now:
1. Use a champagne bottle with a cork and cage---store on its side.
2. Use 750ml Belgian beer bottles with respective cork and cage.
3. Compromise and use a 22 oz. flip-top bottle
I also think I'll add a little...
I'm planning on making a Holiday Spice Ale for parties around Thanksgiving and Christmas time. I want to bottle it in wine or champagne bottles with a cork for presentation purposes. Before I do so, and potentially ruin a batch of beer, can it be done? A few questions I have regarding the...
Guys, thanks again for the help. With all the info (and first hand accounts) that you've armed me with, I should have quite a time! I'll be sure to provide feedback and pics when I return.
Reading all of this traffic is really getting me excited, but I've got a few months before I'll be...
Great feedback!
Thanks for the guidance---seriously, you guys have made my itinerary!
I'll probably be there for around a week, so I should be able to cram most of those things in, as long as they're in the Brussels/Antwerp area.
My girlfriend will be with me, so she can be my designated...
I'm going to Brussels and Antwerp, Belgium this fall, probably OCT or NOV.
Looking for some advice on building the best 'beer itinerary'.
Even without any feedback, it shouldn't too hard to find good beer in Belgium!
So far, the following is planned (no particular order):
1. Cantillon...
