I want to make a wheat or light ale brew with fruit...

perfect brew for your trip is Biermuncher's centennial blonde with strawberries. I made this last summer and it is excellent. Just follow the recipe, primary for 2 weeks or so and then rack over 4LBS of strawberries and leave in secondary for 2-3 weeks. You end up with a light beer that has just...

    BIAB for Partial mash

Yes, this is a very good method. I typically mash with the same water/grain ratio I'd use with all grain and put the mini mash bag in my oven for an hour at 150 After the mash I do a stovetop style sparge by dunking the bag a few times in 170 degree water and letting the bag drain I'll...

    Honey Wheat advice please

I am working out a honey wheat recipe too. Adding honey is going to dry out the beer and from what I have heard, will not add alot of residual sweetness. I'm going up the honey malt to 1LB and mash it with a few LB's of wheat malt. Doing a small mash isn't really any different than steeping...

    Brewer's Best Weizenbier

I have made this kit several times, it is pretty good. Just adjust your hops for the full boil and you'll get some good beer I've done the BB kits with full boil and also the partial that is on there instructions and I didn't see any real difference

    Question about a Pumpkin Ale

I didn't bake the pumpkin, just added it to the mash. I did mash in a bag though so I wouldn't have to deal with a big mess

    Question about a Pumpkin Ale

I'd definitely use the pumpkin. I made a terrific batch of pumpkin ale last fall that had 4 lbs of canned pumpkin in the mash. It added good flavor to the beer. I wouldn't just rely on spice, especially if you're using the store bought pre mix stuff

    Honey Wheat partial mash

I came across a honey wheat from a small brewer in Ohio called Mad Bee Honey Wheat and it was fantastic. It looks like the brewery that made it is no longer in operation so i can't buy more. 2LB light DME 3LB wheat malt 8 oz honey malt 1lb dextrine 2lbs honey - added at flameout 1oz...

    Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin

I opened a bottle of this over the weekend and it was almost exactly what I was hoping for. I let this beer sit in the secondary for four weeks on top of 2 tbsp of pumpkin pie spice that made a tea out of. The spice flavor is just right but could have been better if I'd have made my own mix...

    Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin

I've been trying as many pumpkin ales as I can get my hands on and Pugsley's series smashed pumpkin is the best I've tasted. It is big and malty with an amazing pumpkin pie flavor at the end. I want to make a 5 gallon partial mash that will come as close to possible. The back of the bottle...
