    I think in an ipa you don't really need it, there are hops that lend themselves to the same flavors, Sorachi Ace comes to mind if you want a lemon flavor. I used some in a cucumber Saison I brewed, worked perfectly.

    My friends bought a Mr. Beer kit, I didn't have anything to do with it. When we finally tried their finished product it ranked somewhere between vomitus and vile. So I wanted to do it better, bought my first kit from northern brewers website and haven't looked back. So thank you Mr. Beer.

    I agree. IMO centennial works awesome with Columbus and cascade. Also, a little experimentation never hurts, see what you like!

    Rum Barrel recipe ideas?

    Avery out of Colorado does an imperial pumpkin ale aged in rum barrels called Rumpkin. Supposed to be pretty good if not boozy at around 17%. I'd think the molasses/ sugar from the rum barrel would pair well with pumpkin or maybe an imperial stout. My 2 cents. Cheers ! I hope it works...
