    Wine Barrels, LA area

Hah. It seems that you guys probably are right. I misinterpreted the info. Thanks for the heads up. I definitely can't house a 60gal barrel at my place. However, if someone can house it, I'm in too. AM

pheboglobi He/she has a few sizes of barrels. 132 gal, 60, gal, 3/4 bbl, 1/2 bbl, and 1/4 bbl. I might send an email. Anyone interested in splitting the cost of it's legit? AM

For sure. Let me know if it pans out. Perhaps we can whip up a tasty brew to throw in there. Perhaps some Brett and Lacto could make an appearance.:mug: Just Sayin. AM

The stupidest comment on your beer

Ok, So this kind of fits in here. My SWMBO got back from class yesterday and told me what one of her classmates asked her. Background: We use the stainless Klean Kanteen water bottles, about a liter I believe, and they have brewery stickers all over them. Student: Hey, is that a kegerator...

    Looky what I had...

FromZwolle We got the chopping block table from craigslist for 20 bucks. It was a good score. It was a good time for sure. Julohan One of my favorite things about the numbskull is the delicious hop aroma. Gremlyn1 Victory @ Sea is on point. (Pun intended?) The Sea Monster is good as well. I...

I went to the GABF in '07 I think. It was epic. I'd love to go this year but I am transferring schools and moving in...

How to calculate batch and sparge water??

I use the one on brew365's website. http://www.brew365.com/mash_sparge_water_calculator.php It works well for me. Keep good notes as well so you can tweek your temps and volumes in the future. AM There is also an app for the ipod/iphone called sparge pal that uses the same calcs, I believe.

    Cali Brewery Tour

And we're back. Thanks for the advice everyone. We had a great time. Except for camping in the rain for the first 3 or 4 days. Oh well. We've got the gear for it. So we went to 16 breweries in 7 days and camped all 7 nights. Tasted every brew from all 16 breweries (I think); Firestone, Santa...

    Adjusting late hops for AA%

This is what I would do. 1oz x 5% = 5aau. You need 5aau's for your FWH addition. So, you take your aau's for the addition(which is 5) and divided by the 3 from your new AA. You get 5/3 = 1.66..... oz of your new 3% hops to get the same aa. For the next addition, 1oz x 5 = 5 aau. divide by...
