Actually that is a pretty good price for a thermometer with a NIST cert. Ant

I'm a partial mash virgin and have questions

So I have some questions. 1) Is a single step infusion ok? I heard in most cases it is, and you would want to use a multistep infusion (protien rest) only with low modified malts. Im not really sure what that means. I like clarity in my final product. Would it benefit me to do a multistep...

    Brand-new brewer questions.

And yes your ale is on track. A problem you might have if your mates b-day is appraoacing fast, is that (for the most part) big beers (high ABV) tend to take longer to mature into something that tastes good. BUT You will find that brewing beer is a study in "exception to the rules" type...

    Brand-new brewer questions.

Cleaning with bleach is fine. If you want to sanitize you may want to try some of the no rinse sanitizers out there. (starsan, idophor) To increase the ABV, increase the fermentables in a given volume. Try to match the increase with the style of the beer. (LME, DME, Grain Bill) Ant

Brewmasters warehouse can't ship within Georgia?

Protected territories suck, period. It allows lazy dealers to be the only stop for our product based only on the fact that they've always dealt the product. +1000 Ant

Papazian's "Who's in the Garden" Hoegaarden Clone

+1 on the honey. It always seems to take longer to ferment out when I add honey to a brew. Ant

    Hydrometer reading post bottling

I don't think it will effect it at all. At least not within the accuracy limits of a floating hydrometer. Ant

    Total noob question

Yes you could, but you would be better off adding LME/DME.

Ranco is at 30 beer is at 42 and still foaming.

You can cut them back if you want. Or just swap them. I like longer lines because it gives me more options as to serving pressures. If I had to guess at what the problem is, I would say that your reg is off. I have seen gauges act like this before. They are correct at 1-15 psi, but anything...
