I will cut 8oz of crystal out on your suggestion and the carapils I was told helps with head retention which I am missing in my current porter and thought it might be a good addition to the stout as I like head....on my beer.
what do you think about the recipe itself? Is it too much grains to few hops? I looked at a number of different stout recipes and came up with this one.
This is my first design and am looking for some input on the list. I have only brewed a few different beers from recipes so this is uncharted territory for me. I am looking for a full flavored stout without being super bitter.

I have been shopping at northwest brewers supply in Burlington as well as Whidbey island home brew supply. I just racked my first porter to a secondary yesterday gave it a taste in between and man it is gonna be good. I think this might be my new favorite hobby!!!
