    Electrical short in control panel!

Do you think it has something to do with this? (See picture below) I have 3 wires (Neutral, Hot, Hot) coming into the switch and only 2 wires (Hot, Hot) coming out. As you can see the red wire on the left is where it sparked it has a black spot on it where it burnt.

    Electrical short in control panel!

Crane, You seem to have a good point here in your first statement. The switch i am using is a cheap one i got off ebay and before I got the change to install it in my panel I took it apart and maybe I just didnt put it back together correctly. Come to think of it every time the circuit tripped...

    Electrical short in control panel!

Ya I guess i'll have to look into getting a multi meter. And I think I just gonna have to rewire the whole thing in a bigger control panel everything is kinda crammed into the one I currently have and some wires might be touching something they're not suppose to when I close the box. I just...

    Electrical short in control panel!

Ok so I'm gonna try to describe this as best as I can and hopefully someone can shine some light on this mystery. Systam setup: I've attached the schematic of the wiring system I am using. Basically the whole unit is wired like so: 4 Prong dryer outlet > 50amp Spa Panel > Control Panel >...

    5500W Heat Element to LED

I have just one more question hopefully someone can help. I got my switch today for this diagram. I went with a DPST illuminated 15/30a 250v (KCD4). How would I wire this up? Incase you can't see the writing on the switch, One side has 2b, 2, 2a and the other side has 1b, 1, 1a. No prongs are...

    5500W Heat Element to LED

Would it be better to wire the light I have in parallel?

    5500W Heat Element to LED

I'd really just like to keep the setup like I have defined in the diagram as I already have all the parts. I'm just mainly concerned with the 220v light leeching any power that would be going to my heating element.

    5500W Heat Element to LED

Hey Everyone, So I am wiring up my new setup which will be wired using the diagram below. Instead of a PID I will be using a PWM. I would like the LED (that I added to the following diagram to come on at the same time as power is sent to the element. Is this the best way to wire it?

Show us your element housings/pots. How did you do it?

Seems this thread has been dead for a while but I thought I'd post my recent setup since I know what it's like to want actual pictures of setups. Got the idea from post #6 on this thread.

Pitch Rate/Starter Size for German Ale Yeast?

I use this yeast alot and usually ferment it at 61-63F and get very good results with attenuation and flavor. What I do for my pitching rate is use the site listed above (www.yeastcalc.com) and use the number of yeast cells between the ale selection and hybrid selection. This beer is not...

    Wyeast 1007

I have been using this yeast alot lately. I ferment in a controlled fermentation chamber @ 61-63F. My last 4 beers have finished at 1.010 consistently. Make sure you give this yeast a 2 week resting period after fermentation or you will notice a sulfury taste. Other than that this yeast is...
