I'm borderline obsessively into DIY. I think I strike a pretty good balance at it; knowing when to let someone with more expertise do the job and when to do it myself.
My wife and I make and can our own soups and such, I'm about equally as likely to buy a piece of furniture as I am to build it myself, we make our own soda (but use a SodaStream to do it), and so on. The only computer I've ever owned that I didn't build myself is a laptop (or a C-64).
"I made this" is probably my favorite phrase, whether I'm talking about food, beverage, a computer, or whatever.
