Fleischmann's Rapid Rise bread yeast...Oh yes i did!

I realize its been almost a year but I figured some would be interested to know how this little experiment turned out! So the cider and the "wine" actually cleared up with a couple months of settling! I can't remember the exact gravity's but the cider came out to about 13% and the wine finished...

Fleischmann's Rapid Rise bread yeast...Oh yes i did!

Ya I was curious to see how the powdered sugar would perform. Im not worried if the welchs doesnt clear. How long do you guys think I should let it ferment out? I was thinking along the lines of 7-14 days, I'll do a hydro reading at day 7 to see where they are at.

Fleischmann's Rapid Rise bread yeast...Oh yes i did!

So just yesterday I was in an experimenting mood...after looking through a few threads on the use of bread yeast I was determined to give it a go, simply to see 1. how far bread yeast will ferment and 2. what the hell kind of product does it make. Since I figured this would be relatively cheap...

Fermenting a lager at ale temps

As far as I understand it a lager fermented at ale temps would classify it as a "steam" beer...correct me if I'm wrong though. Let it condition should be fine.

OG and FG both different than specified...

I brewed a Mexican Cerveza and I live in California so its been regular 90's so its a little tough to keep the temps were I would like to keep them. So whats the general rule of thumb for you guys? 2-3 weeks primary with 3 weeks bottle conditioning? If that's the case I need to get my pipeline...

OG and FG both different than specified...

Ya the other crazy thing was that this fermented in 4 days! been checking the gravity the past couple days and its stayed at 1.010. Tomorrow is day 10 so I guess its time to bottle and condition for 3 weeks. Again thanks for the peace of mind guys!

OG and FG both different than specified...

This is my first time doing an all extract kit, previously I have done a couple specialty grains so nothing crazy. However with this kit my OG was supposed to be 1.054 and my reading came out to 1.056...I'm not too worried about that because the recipe was for 5.25 gal and I always fill up to 5...

    First Brew...not bad

ya too be honest I was a little worried because my temps were 10 degrees off at times but it still turned out good, it seems like home brewing can be forgiving. I was looking into mini mashes and ran into BIAB...I have all the equipment necessary what do you guys think? From what I've been...

    First Brew...not bad

Cracked open a bottle last night to try it out, even though it had only been bottled for one week so the carbonation was low but it tasted decent! To be honest I am surprised at how easy this was, using an extract kit with specialty grains isn't hard at all. Next step mini-mash! Oh ya brewed...
