The only thing I can add is I was paranoid about cooling down the wort as quick as possible. A buddy and I a brewed together (2 seperate batches) and ran out of ice for the sink. I sprinted 3 blocks to get ice and then back again to get that wort cooled down. Definitely a RDWHAHB moment.

Be careful with extract. I ruined a batch of Winter Solstice clone by adding too much. If you are kegging I'd suggest adding 1/2tbl in secondary and then more in the keg after sampling it. I found it was VERY easy to go overboard. I added 1.5tbl and it is almost undrinkable.

Wow, are you planning on going commercial? My neighbor said a couple of years ago he was looking to diversify his farm and considered hops. He was going to plant across 2-3 acres. After realizing that you had to pick the hops by hand he went another route. Good luck either way.

Agreed of the 5 different types I have, the Cascades consistently out perform the others. They also for whatever reason do not get hit by the bugs as bad as the others.

I would skip the secondary and just leave it in the primary for 3 weeks. I like pellets during the boil and then whole leaf to dry hop.

I have ordered 15 or so from freshops.com and everyone of them has grown. Some of them were a little thin but had good buds on them and like I said, have all been productive.

Are you sure your efficiency is that high? If you are expecting 1.07 with 6.5g of wort but you are getting 1.07 and only 4g, then your efficiency is not accurate. I agree with what the others are saying as well though that you should be using more water.

For anyone who might think of trying this, I used Simply Organic vanilla extract (Madagascar). Would not go over 1 tbsp with this brand. I agree that different brands have different potencies.

Mine will stay together without soldering. I will 2nd the dremel tool as well, makes it really easy and quick.

I kegged this 2 weeks ago and tried my first one last night. Are you sure you meant 1-1.5 oz and not tablespoons? I assumed you meant tablespoon and put that in but I think it is way over powering. I will probably try this again but cut it back to a small tablespoon. Hopefully the vanilla...
