I don't know much about wine (or beer either), but when making beer you should have a bung with a hole in it that you put an airlock on it that lets the pressure out, but won't let bacteria in. Maybe you need one of those?

Hi All, As it turns out, I thought there was no rinse agent in our diswasher and couldn't figure out why they weren't carbonating, then I ask my wife if she put any in and she had. My question is, if I put in carbonation drops and re cap them, will I get carbonation? Thanks! Kevin

I had a lot of air in the auto siphon too until I put two hose clamps on the outgoing hose. Air was leaking by and aerating my beer. I'm new enough to not be able to tell if it affected the taste though. :)
