    Spent grains.

I've been wondering the same thing - I gave mine to my brother for his chickens, but he said they wouldn't touch them. I'm wondering if the grains had already started to go bad, since they were still wet. (Not sure how long he waited until trying to feed it to them...) I took a look at the...

    Power supply for CIP pump

CIP is an acronym for "Clean In Place," and is used to describe a system that uses a pump to pump cleaner through a nozzle into various equipment (kegs, carboys, kettles) that need to be cleaned. In my case, I'd bought a 12v pump, and the power supply for the pump was inadequate. However, I...

Holy crap, I'm sitting here crying from trying not to laugh too loud in my office... That is just unreal!

    Power supply for CIP pump

As a follow-up, I've since found this power supply which claims to be able to support a water pump. But it isn't water-proof. The power supply will obviously be out of the water, but water often gets sloshed around in a brewery, and I'd hate to see what would happen if water hit that power...

    Power supply for CIP pump

I'm trying to put together a CIP system, and am using a NorthStar Pump that draws 10A at 12V. To power it, I ordered a 12V 10A AC/DC power supply from Amazon. However, when I connected the power supply to the pump, the power supply immediate shuts off, as if it was overloaded. To...

This is why I brew alone

It's been a while since I wired my control panel, so I'm a little fuzzy - I'll have to dig around in there to refresh my memory. But as I recall, I have my PID wired to turn the SSR on/off. So I'm curious how to wire both the PID and the float to trigger the SSR. I guess you somehow wire them...

This is why I brew alone

Wow! I'm always really paranoid about my HLT heating element, and even still I've heard it sizzle several times as the water level ran low. If I hadn't been in the room at just the right time, I'd have lost my heating element. So I'll definitely be installing one of these floating...

Can u place c02 tanks in refrig?

Definitely don't try to put the tank in the fridge without the regulator - it's pretty tricky to use it otherwise! ;)

Can u place c02 tanks in refrig?

It's fine to store your C02 in the refrigerator - most (purpose-built) kegerators come with a place to store your C02 tank behind your kegs. Kegging is a lot easier than bottling! One thing to keep in mind is to try to remove the oxygen from the keg. The easiest way to do this is to...

    input on CIP nozzle options

Thanks for your help! I've sent GW Kent a request for data on how the spray diameter changes with flow rate. In the mean time, I found a spec on the pump listed above that wasn't in the product manual - it looks like it will only do 1.7 GPM @ 20 PSI. (It will do 2 GPM @ 10 PSI). So it looks...

    input on CIP nozzle options

Thanks for the response! I agree the that last two look like the same nozzle, though the pressure/flow data seems a little different. You're right that the mcmaster is the cheapest, but it's also 3/16" wider than the smallest GWKent model. (It could have been a measurement error, but it...

    input on CIP nozzle options

I'm putting together a parts list for a CIP system. I need a small diameter nozzle, as I'll be using it to clean carboys. I'm curious whether anyone is aware of any "gotchas" with any of these nozzles - anything I'm not considering? GW Kent twk-rotating nozzle This is my preferred choice...
