Hi everyone, Im new to this forum and this hobby. This is my first post so hopefully I've done everything thing right so far.
I picked these plants up from a farm in northern colorado 3 at a time. The healthier looking of the plants are the latest planted, maybe about 2 weeks ago, the weaker of the plants where planted about a month and a half ago. The ones I planted first I shook all the dirt off of the roots before I put them into the soil, the newer ones I did not, fearing that shacking the dirt off of the plants some how caused a lose of nutrients or a shock to the plants. But now the longer the newer ones go, they seem to have the very early stages of what the older plants have, holes in the leaves, browning/drying around the edges. I'm hoping that someone one here might have an explanation for this and some tips I can try.
The soil is good I think, 20 year old garden fertilized with rotted horse manure 2 times a year. I am wondering if it might be PH. I took pictures into a garden center and they told me a mildew was growing on them and gave me an fungicide, that seemed to stop. They also told me I was over watering so I have cut back on watering quite a bit. With the rain fall that I get and the deep mulch the soil stays pretty damp. After they told me that they where being overwatered I did move the mulch away from around the plants to let it dry out. The older ones I have trimmed, the newer ones I have left alone so far. One of the 3 older ones has completely died I think, I'm still giving it time to see if a new shoot will appear. THe only thing I could think it might be is soil PH, I haven't tested the garden because I didn't think I needed to, but after reading a few similar posts on this forum I think I need to do that. Anyway thanks for the help, I can use all I can get. Thanks!
P.S. Ill put some more closer up pictures of the leaves up tomorrow when the sun comes back out. Cheers.
