Hey guys! Have made wine for a number of years, but frankly, I'm not that good at it and I like to drink beer more. I've got fermenting buckets, 5 gal glass carboys, syphons, hydrometer, all the stuff. Also have large pots, propane burner (turkey fryer stuff...never fried a turkey)...

I want to brew my own beer. I like a red ale, ie., Highland Gaelic Ale, Thomas Creek River Falls Red Ale, etc. Is there a source for a ingredient kit I should turn to?

Also, bottling...recommendations for a first time brewer for small batches (no more than 5 gal at first).

I know it's a VERY broad general question...but, if someone out there will have a little pity on me, and offer up a little insight to help me get started, it would forever be appreciated....

I did the same thing, but my wine was actually really good! I like brewing beer much better than winemaking, but still do both.

Several places offer kits online and your local homebrew store likely has a bunch of them as well, but I would suggest researching some recipes and building your own brew... you're going to want to do it eventually anyway.

Bottling is much the same as wine, only you add priming sugar to your bottling bucket as you fill it. There are several priming sugar calculators available online as well.

Most importantly... have fun! Good luck!
