Default Can you smell oxidation in the nose of a beer?

I still have a few bottles of the first beer I brewed. I had a lot of trouble transferring from primary to the bottling bucket and had to keep pumping my auto siphon, thus filling my beer with oxygen.

I was just curious of oxidation is noticeable in the nose? Because there is most definitely an off flavor with this porter and I can smell it before I even take a sip.

Yeah, you can smell oxidation in beer at a certain level. I think most would say it's more of a taste bud thing, though. What kind of flavor/aroma are you getting?

Yeah, it's a lot like sherry without the sweet overtone.
