small window duct fan ?

Since going electric with my brew pot and my brew bench is inside the house in my man cave. Ive been opening the window and putting on a regular fan to blow the boil steam out. I wonder if there is a way to make something that i can put into the open window like a duct fan ? Something like a plug in portable hood ?

Whats your thoughts ?
 
In order to properly blow air out, you to have a source of air to replace it. With a sufficient source of air in, here is a easy fix: put the fan into the window, and block off the rest of the open area in the window. At this point, the fan will not draw air from around it, it will produce "negative" pressure in the room it is in, and any other source of air will fill the "voided" air volume. Does this make sense to you?

ie: Fan to blow the air out, small vent to let the air in

Small fan, small vent. Big fan, big vent. Yup. Any sort of "box" fan should work great.
 
Buy a heating duct fan. These fans are designed to fit inside heating ducts to boost the hot air flow to a certain room. Cover your window with plywood or carboard, with the appropriate size round hole to fit the fan into.
 
Do you have a box fan from using it this summer? Let me rephrase that question, what type/size fans do you already have? Also, what is the size of your room? L x W x H, Once we know the cubic feet of the room, we can start sizing a fan for it
 
I just put an old window fan in a basement window. It does a good job airing out the basement during a brew session. Likely not as good a hood, but I have found it adequate, simple, and inexpensive!

While a little steam build up during the boil, running the fan for 20-30 minutes post poil airs out the basement well. Typical example linked below...
